Modernistic is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee our statewide fleet of approximately 150 vehicles and lead a team of Fleet Technicians.ย This role is ideal for a highly organized leader who combines strong mechanical expertise with exceptional communication, technology, and management skills.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage and hold team members accountable
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and readiness of a statewide fleet of approximately 150 vehicles
  • Conduct and document quarterly inspections on the entire fleet to ensure safety, compliance, and appearance standards
  • Travel to Modernistic locations throughout Michigan as needed
  • Assist with diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance as a working manager when necessary
  • Ensure fleet management software and maintenance systems are fully utilized, accurate, and up to date
  • Maintain strong communication between the Fleet Team, Logistics Team, Branch Managers, and company leadership
  • Prioritize repairs and maintenance activities to maximize vehicle uptime and operational efficiency
  • Ensure preventative maintenance programs are executed consistently and on schedule
  • Maintain fleet safety, compliance, and vehicle appearance standards that reflect the Modernistic brand
  • Partner with the Director of Finance to develop annual fleet replacement and capital improvement plans
  • Execute approved capital improvement projects, including vehicle purchases, upfitting, and deployment
  • Ensure all new vehicle builds are completed on time, on budget, and placed into service efficiently
  • Manage all vehicle insurance claims and coordinate repairs with vendors and insurance carriers
  • Monitor fleet maintenance and repair expenses to ensure adherence to budget goals
  • Analyze fleet performance data and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and cost control
  • Develop processes and accountability systems that improve productivity and service levels across the fleet department
Requirements
  • 5+ years of fleet maintenance, automotive management, or related experience
  • Prior leadership experience managing mechanics or maintenance personnel
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, preventative maintenance programs, and repair processes
  • Extensive experience with commercial vehicles including:
    • Chevrolet Express Vans
    • Ford Transit Vans
    • Box Trucks
    • Light and medium-duty commercial vehicles
  • Proven ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong budgeting and cost management experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong technology skills and comfort utilizing fleet management software, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applicatons
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License and good driving record
  • Chauffeur's License & DOT
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
  • ASE Certifications are a plus, but not required
  • Willing to respond to occasional after-hours calls or urgent fleet situations when business operations require immediate attention
