Responsibilities & Expectations:
We are looking for a talented Transformer Repair Technician to perform service, diagnostic, repair, and preventive maintenance within the IPS Power Management Division. IPS Transformer Repair Technicians demonstrate strong repair skills and commitment to providing an Unmatched Customer Experience.
  • Dismantle, rewind, reassemble, test and core iron repair on large and medium substation/transmission class power transformers
  • Conduct work both in-shop and on customer sites
  • Inspect, test, repair, investigate and report on various types of transformers
  • Perform failure investigations, report findings, and recommend repairs
  • Employ test equipment and instruments that are required to perform preliminary, intermediate, and final testing
  • Work safely alone and as part of a team
  • Closely adhere to all safety standards and procedures
  • Effectively contribute to a strong team environment through assisting teammates in accomplishing mutual goals
Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Preferred not required - 2 years' experience winding various types of transformer coils
  • Preferred not required - 2 years or more experience in high voltage transformer testing - HiPot, load-loss/no-load-loss, impedance, impulse, temperature rise, etc.
  • Preferred not required - 3 years or more experience with substation class oil filled transformers in: untaking, gasketing, component change out, landing coils, tanking, testing, and vacuum oil processing
  • Preferred not required - 2 or more years' experience in transformer low voltage testing - insulation, resistance, turn-to-turn ration, and Doble power factor testing
  • Able to read and interpret drawings/diagrams and specifications (electrical, mechanical and connection)
  • Strong oral and written communication and analytical skills
  • Able to work with minimal direction or supervision
  • Have experience with health and safety programs
  • Available and willing to work flexible hours, overtime and weekends as required, willingness to be on call
