CONSTRUCTION SERVICES PRACTICE
Michael Baker International's Construction Services staff supports clients by acting as their trusted on-site agent through all phases of construction, from pre-design to close-out, by providing qualified construction managers, inspectors, constructability reviewers, schedulers, estimators and safety experts. As new technologies evolve throughout the construction industry, innovative ideas are required to maintain and deliver successful construction projects.
What We're Looking For:
Michael Baker International is seeking a Construction Manager to join our Harrisburg team and help deliver some of PennDOT District 8's most impactful transportation projects, including the South Bridge Replacement (I-83), the I-83 Capital Beltway Improvement Program, and the Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge Rehabilitation Project. As a Construction Manager, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of Central Pennsylvania's transportation network by overseeing complex construction projects, coordinating with clients and contractors, resolving field challenges, and helping deliver critical infrastructure improvements that will enhance mobility, safety, and connectivity for generations.
What You'll Do:
  • Lead constructability reviews and provide recommendations to improve project delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with PennDOT and client stakeholders.
  • Serve as the owner's representative and primary liaison with contractors.
  • Monitor contractor performance and facilitate the resolution of schedule, quality, and construction issues.
  • Evaluate project risks and provide strategic recommendations to protect owner interests.
  • Support pre-construction planning efforts, focusing on schedule optimization and risk mitigation.
  • Review and analyze contractor claims, change orders, and performance concerns.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Provide leadership and oversight throughout all phases of transportation construction projects.

What You Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of transportation construction experience, including highway, bridge, railroad, and related infrastructure projects.
  • Extensive experience providing construction management and inspection services on PennDOT and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in scheduling, cost estimating, risk management, and value engineering.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $101,537 - $155,673. This compensation range is a good-faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
