Job Summary

The Assistant Store Director supports the Store Director in leading overall store operations to achieve sales, profitability, customer service, safety, and operational goals. This position assists in managing store teams, developing associates, maintaining company standards, and ensuring an exceptional shopping experience for customers. The Assistant Store Director serves as a member of the store leadership team and assumes responsibility for total store operations in the Store Director's absence.

Key Responsibilities Store Operations
  • Assist in directing and coordinating daily store operations.
  • Support the execution of company programs, initiatives, and operational standards.
  • Ensure all departments maintain high standards for merchandising, in-stock conditions, cleanliness, and presentation.
  • Monitor store conditions and address operational issues promptly.
  • Drive execution of promotional events, seasonal programs, and sales strategies.
  • Partner with department leadership to achieve operational objectives.
Customer Service
  • Promote a culture focused on exceptional customer service.
  • Lead efforts to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Address customer concerns, complaints, and service opportunities professionally and effectively.
  • Ensure associates consistently deliver positive customer experiences.
  • Monitor customer service metrics and implement improvement plans as needed.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and retaining store associates.
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and development opportunities.
  • Support succession planning and talent development efforts.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, inclusion, and engagement.
  • Lead and motivate teams to meet performance expectations.
  • Conduct performance reviews and assist with corrective action processes as needed.
Financial Management
  • Support achievement of sales, labor, shrink, and profit goals.
  • Analyze store performance reports and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in managing labor expenses and productivity.
  • Support inventory control and shrink reduction initiatives.
  • Drive store performance through effective planning and execution.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a safe environment for customers and associates.
  • Monitor and enforce workplace safety procedures.
  • Support internal audits and compliance reviews.
  • Ensure proper handling of incidents, accidents, and documentation.
Merchandising & Inventory Management
  • Ensure departments maintain appropriate inventory levels and presentation standards.
  • Support inventory management processes and stock replenishment activities.
  • Monitor product quality, freshness, and rotation standards.
  • Assist in implementing merchandising plans that drive sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure pricing, signage, and promotional displays are accurate and effective.
Community & Business Partnership
  • Represent the store within the local community.
  • Support community engagement initiatives and company-sponsored events.
  • Build positive relationships with customers, vendors, and business partners.
