Job description

The Student Manager is responsible to provide and oversee operations for respective programs, events and/or facilities during set work hours. The Manager will provide direction to student workers by supervising tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. They are responsible to provide training and equip staff daily to perform required duties. The Student Manager is responsible for maintaining safety, reducing risk and providing excellent customer service to all patrons.

The LaHaye Rec Personal Training Manager is responsible to provide and oversee operations and fitness programming at the LaHaye Recreation and Fitness Center during set work hours. The Manager will provide direction to student employees by supervising tasks, monitoring performance, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures in the facility. They are responsible to provide training and equip staff on a daily basis to perform required duties. The Personal Training Manager is responsible for maintaining safety, reducing risk and providing excellent customer service to all patrons.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Responsible for overseeing the LaHaye Recreation and Fitness Center personal training programming during operational hours, ensuring facility cleanliness, a high level of customer service, and effective operations.

2. Responsible for assisting in the oversight of a Personal Trainer student employee team.

3. This includes assisting with interviewing, training, developing, scheduling and evaluating.

4. Assist in the maintenance and adherence of risk management procedures and policies at the LaHaye Recreation and Fitness Center, ensuring compliance with University policies.

5. Document and report incidents and injuries at the LaHaye Recreation and Fitness Center.

6. Responsible for the completion of day-to-day operational tasks to ensure seamless function of personal training, including: training clients, leading fitness workshops, creating training materials, and promotion of special events.

7. Responsible to assist with maintenance of the LaHaye Recreation and Fitness Center, including regular cleaning of the facility, equipment, and Personal Training Lab.

8. Frequently oversee operations or events during evening, nights or weekend hours.

9. Attend all required Campus Recreation trainings and meetings.

10. Perform all other tasks assigned by the Assistant Director of Fitness to aid and assist in the operation of Campus Recreation Facilities.

11. Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's mission

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Personal Training Certification (ACE, ACSM, NASM)

  • Experience developing and implementing personal training programming

  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification

  • Ability to work up to 29 hours per week

  • Availability to work a variety of different shifts (weekends, early morning, afternoon, late night)

  • Ability to work over school breaks (including summer and winter break)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialty fitness certification

  • Management experience

  • Experience working in a recreation and fitness environment

  • Desire to pursue recreation management as a career field

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is split between a climate-controlled office setting and fitness facility. Both areas are well lit and the noise level is moderate.
