Job description

IntroductionWith more than 7,000 employees, we are the largest health insurance company in Michigan. We offer an exciting work environment with a diverse group of employees. Overview

Lead training and educational support assessments, perform gap analysis, coordinate the quality management program. Assist in the divisional accreditation process, and conduct/assist with internal and external audits.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for educating staff as it relates to department programs, processes, and systems.
  • Provide instructions about the various state and federal regulations, including, but not limited to, the Michigan insurance code, department of labor and health reform regulations, CMS rules and standards, accreditation standards and guidelines, and privacy requirements, as these apply to the work performed in the department. 
  • Lead, oversee, and mentor new employees during the initial training program and on-the-job training.
  • Coordinate administrative activities with the training manager and others within the department to conduct class evaluations, updating files, scheduling classes, managing attendance/registration, coordinating new hire system/software access, personnel information, and attendance management.
  • Work closely with the leadership team and subject matter experts, both internal and external, to assess the learning environment and determine relevant resources for training, including best practices for in-person and remote learning.
  • Design, develop, implement, and update training manuals, curriculums, job aids, gap assessments, training surveys, training packages, and other training materials reflecting new approaches to training, departmental and/or system process changes.
  • Conduct quality reviews on a pre-audit basis and post audit basis. Share performance information with management to determine next steps.
  •  Working closely with leadership, identify divisional business and technology needs.
  • Participate in development, testing, and implementation of new programs and systems.
  • Support accreditation requirements, customer demands and needs, and compliance activities.
  • Lead, coordinate, participate in, and perform internal and external audits.     

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Healthcare or related field required. 
  • Master’s degree in Education/Training preferred. 
  • Four (4) years of experience in health-related fields required. 
  • Two (2) years internal experience required. 
  • Proven experience in leading in-person and remote learning. 
  • Strong analytical, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills. Understand and apply business-writing style.
  • Proficient in current industry standard PC applications and systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of benefits plans, marketing, membership, and billing, claims processing, underwriting and actuarial, and ability communicate information and processes to the department’s personnel.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of policies, procedures, and processes as they relate to the work performed in the department, including but not limited to state and federally regulated urgent/expedited and standard internal and external appeals and grievances; state mandated/regulated managerial level conferences (MLC); internal and external urgent hotline; Individual Rights line; President’s hotline; referrals, complaints, and inquiries from the Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS), Better Business Bureau, Regulatory Affairs, and OGC/litigation; Individual Rights requests, etc.
  • Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.
