Job description

The below job summary and responsibilities reflects the duties of the Gas Operations Technical Specialist Trainee, Gas Operations Technical Specialist will differ as more skills and/or experience will be required. The successful candidate will be placed at a level that is commensurate with the candidate's skills and experience.
Position Summary
Under direct supervision, Gas Operations Technical Specialist Trainee operates and maintains electronic equipment including RTU's, electronic controllers, pneumatic controls, compressor control panels. Responsible for training under the Sr. Gas Operations Technical Specialists and the Gas Operations Technical Specialists (GOTS) to learn all aspects of the job performed by the GOTS. This position will provide a structured training path for the GOTS position.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Assists and supports GOTS to operate, maintain, install and calibrate electronic and pneumatic controls and measurement equipment. Assists and supports GOTS to maintain SCADA system. In training to repair electronic and pneumatic compressor, plant controls and digital circuits.
  • Assists and supports GOTS to Install, program, repair RTUs and electronic measurement equipment.
  • Assists and supports GOTS to do cathodic protection surveys, repair cathodic protection systems, and design and install new systems.
  • Assists and supports GOTS to install new pipelines, works with contractors to ensure quality and timely work. Assists and supports GOTS to write and complete capital work orders. Will utilize Passport software.
  • Assists and supports GOTS to be responsible for the goals of the Business Unit as they relate to the position. Assists and supports ordering material to ensure compatibility with existing equipment and to investigate costs before selecting equipment.
  • Assists and supports GOTS to provide technical support and direction as needed to the team. Stay abreast of the new technologies and current industry practices.

Minimum Requirements - Trainee ($34.50 - $48.23)
  • High school diploma, or GED.
  • Two years of experience in gas delivery systems operations, specifically compressor control panels, automated control systems, AC, DC analog and digital control circuits, process control technology and DOT rules and regulations or a related degree from a technical college.

Minimum Requirements - Specialist ($38.30 - $53.50)
  • High school diploma, or GED.
  • Four or more years experience in gas delivery systems operations, specifically compressor control panels, automated control systems, AC, DC analog and digital control circuits, process control technology and DOT rules and regulations.
  • Experience in other areas of Natural Gas Transmission is valuable in this position.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $34.50 to $53.50 per hour
