IU Health Medical Group - South Region is seeking two Board Eligible or Board-Certified Plastic Surgeons to help grow a plastic surgery program serving the evolving needs of Bloomington and Southern Indiana. This opportunity is based at IU Health's expanding hospital and physician network in Bloomington and is ideal for both experienced plastic surgeons and new graduates/fellows eager to establish a comprehensive practice with strong institutional support.

Position Details

  • Practice Location: IU Health Bloomington Hospital
  • 100% clinical
  • Wide range of patients to manage
  • Referrals from the largest primary care and specialty care network in Indiana

  • Collaborate with an experienced Advanced Practice Provider
Clinical Opportunity
This position offers the chance to shape a broad reconstructive and procedural plastic surgery practice with significant built-in demand. Multiple service lines work closely with plastic surgery and serve as consistent referral sources, including:
  • Breast oncology (with emphasis on coordinated mastectomy and reconstruction)
  • ENT
  • Cardiothoracic and vascular surgery
  • General and trauma surgery
  • Orthopedics
  • Wound care
Call & Work-Life Balance
  • Call expectation: Approximately 1 night per week and 1 weekend per month (1:4)
  • Call structure designed thoughtfully to support sustainability and physician well-being
  • Response expectations align with medical staff bylaws and patient acuity

Healthcare System/Hospital Description
The new IU Health Bloomington Hospital and Regional Academic Health Center, part of the Indiana University Health Medical Group, opened in December 2021. The facility offers a personalized approach to inpatient services (including intensive care, complex surgeries and comprehensive obstetrics and gynecology services), outpatient services with leading-edge diagnostic testing, flexible space in the emergency department for post-care observation, a dedicated trauma center and a cancer infusion center.
At the same time, the facility strengthens healthcare education by providing space for collaboration and coordination of care and teaching. Students and trainees frequently come to the hospital side of the facility for clinical experiences.
