Overview

TRC is seeking highly motivated and diverse Civil/Geotechnical Engineering Interns out of our Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA office for our Summer 2027 intern program. This is a paid full-time position. Anticipated duration will be from June through August 2027 (flexible).
This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists.
Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering calculations to support designs including geotechnical, stormwater, and general civil aspects.
  • Perform field investigations and construction oversight for environmental compliance, geotechnical, and land development projects.
  • Support design of stormwater management systems, layout renewable energy systems, and solid waste management systems.
  • Perform various project tasks including evaluating regulatory requirements, developing quantity take-offs, cost estimates, research, subcontractor procurement support, etc.
  • Apply quality assurance and quality control processes for deliverables.
  • Support the preparation of reports, plans and specifications for client and governmental approvals and construction.
  • Perform data entry, data management, data evaluation, and data presentation.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license.
  • Pursuing Bachelor or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Interest in renewable energy, solid waste, or other applicable fields.
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possesses solid technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail orientated person.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Honest, fun, hard-working and ready to learn and grow.
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Civil3D.
  • Experience on construction sites performing inspections/testing.
  • Familiar with reviewing project drawings and specifications.
