Job description

Job Title: Safety & Security Officer Trainee - Clifton Springs Hospital, Security (Full-Time, Varying - 24-hour Rotation)
Department: Security
Location: Clifton Springs Hospital - 2 Coulter Road, Clifton Springs, NY 14432
Hours Per Week: 40
Schedule: Varying - 24-hour rotation
SUMMARY:
The role is responsible for assisting in maintaining the safety and security of the Rochester Regional Health facilities under supervision. The trainee will learn and demonstrate the duties of a full security officer, including performing security patrols, answering security calls, conducting initial investigations, and responding to emergencies. The role emphasizes customer service and teamwork, and the trainee will receive on-the-job training in all essential security functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Training & Development: Complete required security training, certifications, and shadowing to learn hospital policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • Security Operations (Under Supervision): Assist with patrols, access control, CCTV monitoring, incident response, and emergency drills while gaining hands-on experience.
  • Safety & Risk Awareness: Identify and report hazards, participate in fire safety checks, and support patient and visitor safety initiatives.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare clear, accurate incident and activity reports while learning investigatory and documentation practices.
  • Professional Conduct & Teamwork: Uphold hospital values, demonstrate integrity, and work collaboratively under guidance to develop into a fully independent Security Officer.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • NYS Security Guard License
  • Valid NYS Driver's License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong interest in safety and security, public safety, or law enforcement.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in high-stress or emergency situations.
  • Demonstrated interest in security, safety, or law enforcement

EDUCATION:
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
NYS DL - valid New York State Driver's License - New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NYSDMV), SO - Security Officer license - New York State Department of State Division of Licensing Services (DOLS)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
