DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports the administration of the Sewage Facilities Act by working with local agencies and reviewing sewage planning activities. Through your work, you will ensure that municipalities follow state requirements and protect public health and the environment. As a Sewage Planning Specialist Trainee, you will participate in a one-year formal and on-the-job training program to learn the duties of a Sewage Planning Specialist 1. You will learn how to perform the following duties:
- Agency Evaluation: Conduct evaluations of local agencies and sewage enforcement officers and recommend corrective actions
- Plan Review: Review sewage planning proposals and take appropriate action on land development submissions
- Guidance Support: Assist with developing program guidance and help provide regional training for enforcement officers
- Report Analysis: Review Chapter 94 Annual Wasteload Management reports and provide recommendations related to loading status and compliance
- Public Communication: Provide information to municipal officials, consultants, and the public on program requirements
- Case Documentation: Prepare case files, respond to information requests, and maintain required data entries

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Williamsport. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
