At KMM, our team supports mission-critical components for medical device, aerospace, defense, space exploration, and high-tech manufacturing. The parts moving through our shop may support surgical tools, life-saving equipment, space manufacturing, aircraft, and advanced technology. This is hands-on work with a future attached to it.
We offer the option of working 4 ten hour shifts, Monday - Thursday. Enjoy a long weekend!
What You'll Do
As a CNC Machinist Trainee, you will support production, finishing, cleaning, material movement, and shop operations while learning the fundamentals of precision manufacturing.
Responsibilities include:
  • Assist with production jobs in various manufacturing work centers
  • Support CNC machining, grinding, EDM, guidewire, finishing, and inspection areas as needed
  • Deburr, clean, and finish precision parts to customer specifications
  • Use hand tools and specialty finishing equipment
  • Run automated passivation line and part washing systems
  • Load and catch parts for thru-feed grinding operations
  • Cut, radius, and press guidewires as needed
  • Stage jobs, materials, tooling, and parts to support production flow
  • Deliver and pick up parts and materials internally and externally using forklifts and company vehicles
  • Assist production, maintenance, and quality teams with daily shop needs
  • Help with coolant tank cleanouts and general shop organization
  • Follow safety, quality, and documentation requirements in an ISO/ITAR manufacturing environment

• What We're Looking For
This role is a strong fit for someone who is dependable, curious, hands-on, and ready to learn.
Preferred Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Entry-level manufacturing, machine shop, warehouse, mechanical, automotive, maintenance, or trade school experience helpful
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, equipment, and small parts
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn CNC machining, precision grinding, EDM, quality inspection, and production machining processes
  • Ability to stand, move, lift, clean, stage, and support hands-on production work
  • Forklift experience preferred, or willingness to be trained
  • Commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift throughout the workday
  • Ability to frequently handle small parts and use hand tools
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently

Why KMM
We are looking for someone who wants to learn the trade, understand the process, and grow into a skilled manufacturing career.
You will be surrounded by experienced machinists, grinders, EDM specialists, quality professionals, and manufacturing leaders who understand that precision is built one decision at a time. Around here, people are Paid to Think. Questions matter. Curiosity matters. The person who notices a detail before it becomes a problem is valuable.
KMM's work supports industries where accuracy matters. Medical device, aerospace/defense, and space manufacturing all demand discipline, focus, and pride in the details. For the right person, this trainee role can become the first step toward CNC machining, grinding, EDM, quality inspection, manufacturing engineering support, or other skilled production paths.
