About Us:

SWD Inc. opened for business in March 1980 with three employees in a 9,000 sq. ft. leased facility and began black oxiding, cleaning, and pickling operations with used equipment. In late 1980, the company began passivating stainless steel and in 1981 purchased Fastener Sorting Corporation. Today, a recognized leader in the Metal Finishing and Fastener Sorting fields, SWD Inc. has over 200 employees and runs three shifts per day in its 250,000 sq. ft. facility just west of Chicago in Addison, Illinois.

Note: SWD is a Drug-Free workplace. All job offers are contingent on successful completion of a Background Check, Drug Screen, and Pre-Employment Physical.

What We're Seeking:

SWD Inc., located in Addison, IL, is looking for an on-site Dock Worker – Forklift & Trailer Spotting.

We are currently hiring for two shifts:

  • 1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 4:00 AM – 1:00 PM (starting at $18.00/hr)

  • 2nd Shift: Monday–Friday, 12:00 PM – approximately 8:30 PM (starting at $18.75/hr) - (End time may vary based on workload; employees leave once dock work is completed.)

Both shifts with overtime as required. 

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Accurately load and unload trucks with a lift truck, pallet jack, or two-wheel dolly

  • Correctly weigh incoming material using a floor scale

  • Identify fasteners or products from the packing slips provided

  • Locate and ship outgoing material to the appropriate customers

  • Correctly package UPS shipments for shipping

  • Move and position trailers within the yard, including backing trailers into dock doors and pulling them out as needed

  • Reposition empty and full trailers to support daily shipping and receiving operations

  • Interact with customers and drivers in a courteous manner and complete appropriate documents and necessary paperwork

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in shipping and receiving or a willingness to learn

  • Experience operating a sit-down forklift or willingness to be trained

  • Availability to work weekends as needed

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, and stand and walk for extended periods
