Job description

Responsibilities

The Trailer Technician will repair or replace damaged parts with factory and dealership specifications. Quality repair need to meet or exceed the original factory fit and finish.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Proficiency of 60% or better, billing a minimum of 4.8 hours per day.
  • Follow all safety measures for personal and environment safety. Wear all safety gear as required for repairs being performed.
  • Aluminum and steel welding - MIG.
  • DOT inspections on semi-trailers by DOT standards.
  • Able to diagnose simple 12-volt electrical light systems.
  • Basic knowledge and familiarity with air brake and ABS systems and repairs.
  • Basic metal fabrication ability.
  • Ability to find root causes of failures in addition to repairs.
  • Ability to perform similar repairs on various types and brands of the same components (adaptability).
  • Work with team members to achieve target delivery dates.
  • Review each repair order, work order, and estimator’s notes to understand repairs needed prior to beginning work on the vehicle.
  • All repairs must be completed according to the documentation on the repair order or the supplement.
  • Document work performed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding the work. Fosters positive customer relations.
  • Advise customer and/or service writer of any repairs or services which should be performed within the next 3 months.
  • Tag all warranty parts and returns to warranty clerk.
  • Clean and maintains an orderly stall and general work areas.
  • Ability to multi-task under pressure.
  • Must demonstrate positive corporate citizenship and the Rush Driving Principles.
  • Maintain safe work environment.
  • Maintain professional appearance.
  • As a condition of continued employment, the employee is required to exhibit positive corporate citizenship, with demonstrated ability to positively interact with others, follow required Company policies and procedures which include but are not limited to policies regarding conduct, record keeping, and safety. As a condition of continued employment, the employee is required to refrain from any behavior that is construed as sexual harassment, harassment and/or creating or participating in a hostile work environment, and/or violence in the workplace

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 2 years related experience and/or training.
  • Certified aluminum and steel welding both MIG and TIG or comparable experience.
  • DOT inspection certified or minimum 1 year working experience.
  • Proficiency with related hardware/software systems as needed to fully execute the duties required.
  • General office skills and knowledge of equipment and systems including but not limited to filing systems, use of copiers, facsimile machines, telephone systems, and other communication or electronic equipment as may be applicable.
