Job description

Metric Engineering is looking for a Traffic Engineer to join our Colorado Springs office! Metric Engineering’s transportation team supports public agencies with a wide range of transportation engineering services, including complex and engaging projects such as early master planning, interchange concept development, and smart work zone deployment. As a Traffic Engineer, you will help deliver traffic and safety analyses, coordinate and support field visits, attend public and client meetings, and produce high-quality studies and reports for our clients.
This role supports a variety of transportation engineering projects and includes close collaboration with the Project Engineer of Record. The position offers strong opportunities for professional development and career growth. Along with the technical analyses, you will contribute to and produce client-ready deliverables including reports, maps, exhibits, and geospatial datasets.
What you should bring:
  • Four (4) or more years of experience in traffic engineering, traffic analysis, and/or transportation planning
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Engineer Intern (EI) certification
  • Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license within one (1) year
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a project team
  • Sense of ownership and accountability for assigned work
  • Solid interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Experience should include:
  • Traffic analysis tools such as HCS, Synchro, and SIDRA; and simulation modeling using SimTraffic or VISSIM
  • ArcGIS applications (map production and geodatabase development)
  • Preparation of project presentations using PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of CDOT manuals, guidelines, and standards
  • Applying engineering judgment when performing analyses and developing recommendations
Colorado Pay Range $85,000 – $115,000*
*Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, geographic location, skills, and education.
