Maintenance Supervisor - JLL
What this job involves:
As a Generator Maintenance Supervisor at JLL, you will lead critical power generation operations by directing maintenance and repair activities for landfill gas-powered generators totaling 7,500kW capacity. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring reliable power generation systems that support our client's operations. You'll exercise considerable autonomy in planning work, managing skilled technicians and contractors, and maintaining high-performance standards for electric generators, switchgear, and fuel supply systems. Your contribution directly impacts operational continuity and energy efficiency for our clients while advancing JLL's commitment to sustainable facility solutions.
What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Supervise skilled trades employees in the maintenance and repair of five 1500kW generators, heavy pumps, and fuel dispensing systems
  • Diagnose complex issues with power generation systems and provide direct oversight of repair activities, working hands-on when necessary
  • Plan, schedule, and prioritize preventive maintenance services, load testing, and equipment overhauls based on criticality and performance data
  • Coordinate with clients, landfill gas providers, and contractors to ensure seamless completion of maintenance activities and operational continuity
  • Manage section budget, monitor vendor performance, and order components to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks
  • Conduct safety inspections of operational areas, ensuring all tools, equipment, and generators meet regulatory standards and safety protocols
  • Evaluate staff performance, identify developmental needs, and provide training to technicians on advanced troubleshooting and repair techniques
Required Qualifications:
  • Six (6) years of experience operating, repairing, and maintaining large diesel, natural gas, or landfill gas engines
  • Three (3) years of experience in industrial electrical system maintenance management involving multiphase current (AC/DC) voltages up to 4,160V
  • Expert knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, generators, engine governors, and electric switchgear systems
  • Proven ability to read and interpret complex electro-mechanical wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Strong supervisory skills with demonstrated ability to lead, train, and evaluate technical personnel across multiple skilled trades
  • Physical capability to perform heavy manual work, lift heavy objects, and work extended periods in inclement weather conditions
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between work sites as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with landfill gas-to-energy systems and renewable energy operations
  • Background in budget management and cost/benefit analysis for capital improvement projects
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and performance tracking tools
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and environmental compliance standards for power generation facilities
  • Experience implementing process improvements and strategic operational plans
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders including managers, vendors, and clients
