We are seeking a Smart App Architect to define, own, and evolve the end-to-end architecture for all Assure Smart Apps running on ServiceNow and the Assure Platform.

This senior architecture role is responsible for establishing consistent, scalable, and secure architecture patterns across the full Assure layered ecosystem, including:

  • Smart App experience layer
  • ServiceNow configuration and workflow capabilities
  • Assure Orchestration and integration layers
  • Insurance Services and data platforms
  • Heritage and modernized insurance administration systems (including DXC Technology solutions)

You will balance hands-on solution architecture with enterprise architecture governance, ensuring Smart Apps are modern, reusable, and aligned with platform strategy.

The ideal candidate is a visionary yet pragmatic architect with deep experience in SaaS platforms, ServiceNow architecture, API-driven ecosystems, and modern cloud-native, AI-enabled applications.

Key Responsibilities1. End-to-End Smart App Architecture Ownership
  • Own the architecture strategy for all Smart Apps across ServiceNow and the Assure Platform
  • Define target-state architecture across experience, workflow, orchestration, integration, and core insurance systems
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, observable, and maintainable
  • Drive modernization while preserving platform stability and upgradeability
2. Architecture Patterns & Standards
  • Define and evolve reusable architecture patterns, reference architectures, and integration blueprints
  • Promote API-first, event-driven, and configuration-over-customization approaches
  • Standardize DevSecOps practices and reusable ServiceNow components
  • Establish guardrails for consistent Smart App delivery across teams
3. Platform Layering & Solution Decomposition
  • Define clear separation of responsibilities across ServiceNow, Assure Orchestration, Assure Platform, and core systems
  • Prevent duplication of business logic across layers
  • Ensure modular, upgrade-safe, and loosely coupled architectures
  • Govern integration patterns between legacy and modernized insurance systems
4. Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership
  • Translate product and business requirements into scalable solution architectures
  • Guide design decisions across workflows, APIs, data models, UI, security, and integrations
  • Support engineering teams through design reviews, trade-off analysis, and technical problem solving
  • Define standards for observability, performance, error handling, and resilience
5. Architecture Governance
  • Represent Smart App architecture in Architecture Review Boards (ARB)
  • Review and approve solution designs and architecture decisions
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise and platform standards
  • Identify and remediate architecture debt proactively
6. Delivery Enablement
  • Provide actionable architecture artifacts, reference implementations, and design templates
  • Support delivery teams in sequencing architecture work across releases
  • Reduce delivery risk through early architectural guidance and dependency management
7. Integration, Data & Security Architecture
  • Define secure integration patterns across policy, billing, claims, customer, and document systems
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, auditability, and regulatory requirements
  • Design for latency, resilience, observability, and fault tolerance
  • Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams on controls and governance
8. Cross-Functional Leadership & Alignment
  • Partner with product, engineering, operations, security, hosting, and customer teams
  • Translate architecture decisions into business impact and delivery outcomes
  • Resolve competing priorities across stakeholders
  • Act as a trusted advisor to technical and executive leadership
9. Innovation & Modernization
  • Evaluate and incorporate AI, automation, analytics, and agentic workflows where valuable
  • Assess emerging technologies and platform capabilities for fit and scalability
  • Ensure innovation is implemented through governed, reusable architecture patterns
10. Decision Facilitation & Leadership
  • Lead architecture decision-making across complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Facilitate structured technical discussions and document decisions
  • Drive alignment and accountability across teams
  • Escalate issues only when necessary, ensuring progress and clarity
11. Mentorship & Capability Building
  • Mentor engineers, architects, and technical leads
  • Promote architecture best practices, reuse, and platform thinking
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement
  • Lead design workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions

  • Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow architecture, including:

  • Understanding of ServiceNow upgrade, release, and multi-instance considerations

  • Familiarity with insurance systems (policy, billing, claims, customer, documents)

  • Understanding of AI-enabled workflows, automation, and agentic systems
  • Ability to assess and integrate AI capabilities into enterprise platforms
Leadership & Influence
  • Proven ability to lead through influence across cross-functional teams
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and drive architectural alignment
  • Experience in architecture governance forums (e.g., ARB)
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 10+ years in software engineering, solution architecture, or enterprise architecture roles
  • Proven experience designing SaaS and platform-based architectures at scale
  • Strong hands-on experience in workflow-based or platform engineering environments
Certifications (Preferred)
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
  • ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) strongly preferred
  • Additional CIS certifications (ITSM, ITOM, App Engine, etc.) are a plus
