What is a trade sales manager?

A Trade Sales Manager is a professional responsible for managing and driving sales through business-to-business (B2B) channels, such as wholesalers, retailers, and distributors. They develop sales strategies, build relationships with trade partners, and ensure products are effectively promoted and sold in the marketplace. Their role often includes analyzing market trends, setting sales targets, and leading a team of sales representatives to achieve business goals.

How does a trade sales manager typically collaborate with other departments to achieve sales targets?

A Trade Sales Manager frequently works cross-functionally, liaising with marketing, supply chain, and product teams to align sales strategies with broader business goals. They often coordinate with logistics to ensure product availability and timely delivery, and partner with marketing to develop trade promotions and campaigns. Regular communication with the finance department is also common to monitor budgets and analyze sales performance. This collaborative environment ensures that sales targets are achievable and that the team can quickly adapt to market changes or customer needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a trade sales manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Trade Sales Manager, you need strong sales acumen, industry knowledge, and experience in B2B relationship management, often supported by a degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with CRM software, sales analytics tools, and sometimes product-specific certifications are typically required. Exceptional negotiation, leadership, and communication skills help you build client trust and motivate sales teams. These abilities are crucial for driving revenue growth, maintaining key partnerships, and achieving organizational sales targets.

Job description

Trade Sales Account Manager

Havenly, Inc. Los Angeles, California, United States

About this position

At Havenly Brands, we’re building this generation’s premier destination for all things home.Alongside our award winning Havenly design services, we proudly own and operate some of the best home furnishings brands in the business including Havenly, Interior Define, The Citizenry, Burrow,Inside, and St.Frank. Our family of brands is growing and we’re looking for amazing people to join us on this journey!

Do you thrive on building relationships and helping clients find the products that they love? Havenly Brands is looking for a Trade Sales Account Manager to grow our trade business across our portfolio of home furnishing brands, including Interior Define, The Citizenry, and The Expert. You’ll play a pivotal role growing sales from new and existing interior design professionals — serving as a trusted partner, product expert, and account owner across all owned brands.

What you’ll own

  • A portfolio of high-potential and active Trade accounts, driving GMV growth and customer retention
  • The primary point of contact for design firms across the full customer journey — from onboarding and education to purchase support and ongoing account development
  • Trade client sourcing and procurement support — guiding clients through product selection, customization options, and purchase execution
  • Account-level strategies and tactics to engage your book of business, unlock new deals and opportunities, and build strong, long-term relationships
  • Brand representation through in-person client meetings, events, and industry touchpoints — with a minimum expectation of two days per week onsite at offices or local retail locations
  • Pipeline activity and account performance tracking using CRM tools to manage your book and surface opportunities

What you’ll drive

  • GMV growth across your account portfolio by identifying and activating opportunities within existing and newly onboarded Trade accounts
  • Trade loyalty program engagement — helping design firms unlock richer perks and benefits as they increase spend, and positioning Havenly as their preferred sourcing partner
  • Deep expertise across Havenly’s brands, product assortments, and trade program benefits so you can consult confidently and credibly
  • A high-quality trade experience by partnering with internal teams to share client feedback and advocate for improvements
  • Consistent, organized pipeline management that keeps opportunities moving and relationships warm

What you’ll bring

  • 2-3+ years of sales experience, preferably in B2B or account management
  • Experience working with a CRM and using data and analytics to inform outreach and decision-making (HubSpot experience is a plus)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a genuine passion for relationship-building
  • A self-starter mentality with a positive, collaborative attitude — you’re motivated, organized, and follow through
  • Comfort managing multiple accounts and priorities simultaneously
  • An eye for design or genuine interest in the home furnishings and interior design industry is a plus
  • Ability to work in-person with clients and at local offices or retail locations at least two days per week

About you

  • You’re a relationship builder — clients trust you, want to hear from you, and feel well taken care of
  • You’re motivated by hitting goals and watching your accounts grow
  • You’re organized and detail-oriented — you keep your pipeline clean, your follow-ups timely, and your clients well-informed
  • You’re a collaborator: you work well with internal teams and are a strong advocate for your clients’ needs
  • You’re curious about the home design space and excited to become a product and brand expert
  • You take initiative — you don’t wait to be told; you see what needs to be done and you do it

Our total rewards package includes competitive compensation, PTO, volunteer days off, health benefits (medical, dental, vision and disability), 401(k) with match, and paid parental leave. Additionally, we offer design services, furniture discounts, and anniversary merchandise credits.
