Job description

Position Summary:
The Trade Sales Manager leads and develops a team of outside sales consultants (Trade Account Managers) within their market. This role drives execution of the sales process to achieve branch objectives, including customer satisfaction, market share growth, and profitability. The position serves as the primary leader for process development, training, communication, and performance accountability across the trade sales team. The manager is expected to spend at least 50% of their time in the field conducting ride-alongs and coaching, with regular travel to showrooms, job sites, and customer locations throughout the DFW metroplex and West Texas, as well as participation in company events as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Management
  • Lead the hiring, onboarding, development, and performance management of Trade Account Managers to ensure achievement of branch objectives, including customer satisfaction, market share growth, and profitability. Provide coaching, training, and workload adjustments as needed.
  • Develop and implement reporting tools and performance metrics to evaluate results, identify gaps, and anticipate team and market needs.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of Pella products and systems to guide the team, support customer inquiries, ensure pricing and order accuracy, and maximize sales opportunities.
  • Partner regularly with Trade Account Managers in the field to call on existing and prospective customers. Conduct quarterly joint visits with top accounts within the assigned market.
  • Ensure consistency in the customer experience and execution of the sales process through ongoing training, coaching, and accountability.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager on trade and commercial marketing initiatives, including targeted tactics and events.
  • Monitor, analyze, and communicate relevant market and competitive intelligence to leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Travel locally and regionally as required. Maintain a valid driver's license and comply with the company Fleet Safety Policy as an authorized driver.

Personnel Management
  • Lead the hiring, onboarding, and training of trade sales staff. Plan, assign, and direct work; evaluate performance; recognize and address behaviors; resolve concerns; and support ongoing professional development. Set clear expectations and provide timely, objective feedback to direct reports.
  • Develop and execute long-term development plans for each team member to maximize performance, engagement, and career growth.
  • Proactively monitor team morale and engagement, responding early to changing signals to maintain a high-performing culture.

General Management and Integration
  • Serve as a cross-functional liaison to drive proactive communication across departments, including Order Fulfillment, Service, Human Resources, and Finance. Identify and resolve customer, employee, process, and training issues while fostering collaboration and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Partner in the development of the annual budget and manage revenue and expenses within the assigned area of responsibility, including oversight of returns and allowances for direct reports.
  • Develop, document, implement, and enforce sales and business processes that promote consistency, accountability, and continuous performance improvement.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for Pella Corporation and other subsidiary sales branches. Ensure alignment, consistency, and ongoing enhancement of processes and policies across PWD-Dallas and affiliated organizations.

Other General Responsibilities
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, market dynamics, and evolving business needs through participation in professional seminars, workshops, and ongoing review of relevant publications.
  • Lead and facilitate department and company meetings, training sessions, and team communications to ensure alignment, development, and effective execution.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in outside sales or customer service management, preferably in building materials, construction, or home improvement industries.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams and achieving/exceeding sales goals.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and presentation skills.
  • Skilled in building long-term client relationships and resolving customer concerns.
  • Proficient in CRM systems, OMS (Order Management Systems), and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet Fleet Safety Policy standards.
