Job description

Summary
Supports assigned trade person by taking directions and fulfilling assigned maintenance tasks and projects; May be assigned to any trade and reassigned as necessary; May be assigned tasks to be completed independently
Essential Duties
  • Performs manual tasks such as assisting mechanics in carrying tools and materials to and from the job; lifts and holds parts; cleans work areas
  • Works under the direction of the tradesperson to use tools and/or operate machinery needed to complete assigned tasks
  • Helps mechanics or tradespersons with dismantling, overhauling, and assembling of equipment and machinery
  • Cleans and washes equipment and machinery
  • Performs occasional tasks independently
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalent in In lieu of Diploma or GED, will consider a minimum of 2 years of comparable experience
Certification/Licensure
Valid Driver License required
Must be insurable by Fulton County School insurance carriers
Must submit a 7-year MVR (motor vehicle report)
Must have a CDL-A or must successfully complete the CDL-A training provided through FCS within 90 days from date of hire
Experience Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of experience preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Working knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment of the trade
  • Knowledge of safety procedures
  • Must be able to understand and follow directions both written and verbal
  • Must be semi-skilled in building maintenance procedures
  • Must be able to work variable shifts
  • Must be able to complete simple tasks independently

Working Conditions
  • Regular exposure to moving machinery and/or vehicles
  • Regular exposure to weather including heat, cold, dampness, and/or humidity
  • Must be able to climb tall ladders and work from scaffolds or lifts

Physical Demands
  • Requires manual dexterity skills
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry for short distances
  • Frequently works with gloves and eye protection
  • Typically requires climbing ladders, pushing and/or pulling
