Job description

Battery Manufacturing Engineering Technician to support the Battery Manufacturing Engineering (BME) team at its Liberty, North Carolina facility. This role focuses on supporting pre-production trials, manufacturing problem solving, process improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives for next-generation battery cell manufacturing.

This is an outstanding opportunity for experienced manufacturing technicians and engineers who enjoy working on advanced production systems while helping launch the future of electric vehicle battery manufacturing.

What You'll Do
  • Support pre-production trials and manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Investigate material, product, process, and equipment issues.
  • Participate in structured root cause analysis and problem-solving efforts.
  • Develop and execute trial plans to validate manufacturing improvements.
  • Prepare technical reports and document lessons learned.
  • Support process and equipment improvements to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, maintenance, and R&D teams.
  • Assist with process standardization and continuous improvement (Kaizen) initiatives.
  • Track project status and communicate progress with team leadership.
  • Support department objectives related to safety, quality, productivity, and manufacturing excellence.
  • Contribute to future equipment installation, commissioning, and production launch activities.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field OR
    5+ years of equivalent engineering or manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting manufacturing production preparation, including:
    • Project planning
    • Equipment/process planning
    • Equipment specification
    • Procurement
    • Installation
    • Production trials
  • Experience with battery cell manufacturing processes, equipment, or trial activities.
  • Strong manufacturing problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and product/process specifications.
  • Experience working with cross-functional manufacturing teams.
  • Experience supporting new model or new process launches.
  • Ability to work weekends, shutdown periods, and overtime as needed.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Battery manufacturing experience.
  • Toyota Production System (TPS) knowledge.
  • Toyota Business Practices (TBP), Fault Tree Analysis, or similar structured problem-solving methodology.
  • Manufacturing plant operations experience.
  • Data analytics experience.
  • Digital engineering software experience.
  • Ability to read and modify engineering models.
  • Japanese language skills are a plus.
