Job description

Position Highlights

  • Ongoing locum coverage opportunity at a Critical Access Hospital
  • Low-volume practice with a mix of Emergency Department and inpatient responsibilities
  • In-house coverage with dedicated provider sleep room
  • Flexible scheduling with recurring monthly coverage needs
  • Work independently while supported by experienced nursing and ancillary staff

Schedule

  • Average of three 24-hour shifts per month
  • Standard shift: 24 hours (7:00 AM 7:00 AM)
  • Occasional 12-hour shifts available
  • In-house call coverage required
  • Provider sleep room available during shifts

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide Emergency Department coverage and inpatient medical management
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting to the Emergency Department
  • Manage observation, acute care, and swing-bed patients
  • Collaborate with nursing and support staff to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Utilize TogetherCare (Epic) EMR for documentation and patient management
  • Interpret diagnostic testing including laboratory and imaging studies
  • Respond to urgent and emergent patient care needs

Patient Volume

  • Average of 4 Emergency Department patients per day
  • Average daily inpatient census of 4 patients
  • Mix of observation, acute care, and swing-bed patients

Practice Environment

  • Critical Access Hospital
  • 3-bed Emergency Department
  • 20-bed medical-surgical inpatient unit
  • No outreach responsibilities
  • No supervision of Advanced Practice Providers required

Support Staff

  • 4 Advanced Practice Providers on staff
  • 2 Registered Nurses supporting all services
  • 1 CNA available for provider support
  • Access to laboratory, pharmacy, and diagnostic imaging services
