Eligibility Requirements

  1. Must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current award year
  2. Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress standards
  3. Must be enrolled in at least half-time. (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate) per semester
  4. Must have a federal need of at least $2,000
  5. Submit all requested financial aid documentation from your To-Do-List by the due date

As a Campus Tour Ambassador, you will play an important role in creating meaningful experiences for visitors by leading campus tours, assisting with outreach events, and supporting the daily operations of the Office of Outreach and Student Recruitment.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead engaging walking tours for prospective students, families, schools, and special guests
  • Share your personal experiences and knowledge about student life, academics, admissions, and campus resources
  • Represent CSUSB with professionalism, enthusiasm, and school spirit
  • Answer visitor questions and help create a welcoming environment
  • Assist with recruitment events
  • Support outreach presentations and student panels
  • Help promote events and campus life through social media and outreach activities
  • Answer phones and emails and assist with office operations

Responsibilities:

Operations Support

  • Provide clerical assistance, including answering phones, emails, and handling inquiries.               
  • Schedule campus tours and maintain the physical and virtual tours calendar.                     
  • Dispense information about campus programs, activities, and policies to visitors and guests.                                        
  • Assist with welcoming prospective students and providing parking information and directions.                                    
  • Assist with maintaining student databases and CRM processes        
  • Help maintain inventory and organize materials for campus events.
  • Assist in creating swag bags for outreach events.

Campus Tours

  • Conduct individual, group, and VIP campus tours, both in-person and virtually.                
  • Deliver engaging admissions presentations and answer questions from tour guests.                       
  • Create memorable experiences that positively represent CSUSB to all guests.                   
  • Keep abreast of all aspects of CSUSB, including news, student life, admissions, and history.                                        
  • Support professional staff regarding student ambassadors' on campus tour protocols and university resources

Outreach Events

  • Attend and work mandatory Outreach and Student Recruitment events, including weekends and evenings (advance notice will be provided)
  • Greet visitors during events, providing assistance and information as needed.
  • Serve on student panels to discuss college experiences and the benefits of attaining a degree.                                       
  • Participate in social media postings for the office to promote events and campus life.       
  • Prepare materials to send via mail and respond to general student inquiries

Other Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or lead.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.

Required Qualifications:

  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous customer service or public speaking experience
  • Involvement in student organizations, athletics, or campus activities
  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups
  • Bilingual students are encouraged to apply
  • Passion for helping prospective students succeed
  • CA Driver's License

Compensation and Benefits:

Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.90 per hour.

The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.

Position Information:

Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal

Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am - 5:00 pm).

Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).

This is an 'On-Campus Only' position. Student Employees are not eligible to telecommute at any time.

Conditions of Employment

Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) may be required for student employment purposes. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.  Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check when required may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Driver's License Check
Possession of a valid Driver's License may be required.  Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.
