This position serves as an enthusiastic ambassador of the hotel, its architecture, history, traditions, and legacy while delivering exceptional guest service.

The Tour Ambassador creates an enjoyable and welcoming experience for guests by sharing fascinating stories, historical facts, architectural details, and unique features of the property in an engaging and professional manner. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality and history, comfortable speaking to groups, and able to connect with guests from diverse backgrounds.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct engaging and informative tours of The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa for hotel guests, visitors, groups, and special guests.
  • Provide accurate information regarding the hotel's history, architecture, artwork, collections, traditions, and notable features.
  • Present historical information in an entertaining, conversational, and easy-to-understand manner.
  • Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere while representing the Mission Inn's heritage and reputation for exceptional hospitality.
  • Adjust tour presentations based on the size, interests, age, and needs of the group.
  • Answer guest questions professionally and accurately or direct guests to the appropriate department when additional information is required.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the hotel's history, facilities, restaurants, accommodations, events, and guest amenities.
  • Highlight significant architectural and historical details throughout the property.
  • Ensure tours are conducted according to established schedules and hotel standards.
  • Maintain awareness of guest safety and follow all hotel safety procedures while conducting tours.
  • Monitor tour groups and ensure guests remain together and follow designated tour routes and property guidelines.
  • Communicate professionally with guests, hotel colleagues, management, and outside visitors.
  • Work closely with the Front Office, Concierge, Sales, Events, and other departments to support the overall guest experience.
  • Promote the hotel's amenities, services, dining outlets, and special events when appropriate.
  • Represent The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa with professionalism, enthusiasm, and pride at all times.
  • Maintain a polished, professional appearance consistent with hotel standards.
  • Assist with special tours, VIP visits, historical presentations, group functions, and other property-related activities as assigned.
  • Stay current on changes, renovations, exhibits, events, and other developments that may affect tour content.
  • Report maintenance concerns, safety issues, guest concerns, or unusual activity observed during tours to the appropriate department.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in hospitality, tourism, museums, education, customer service, public speaking, or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge or interest in local, California, or Mission Inn history is highly desirable.
  • Previous tour guide or public speaking experience is a plus.

Work Environment
