Job description

Position Summary
The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for developing new business opportunities, maintaining strong customer relationships, and achieving defined sales goals within the plastic injection mold making and molding industry. This role combines technical knowledge with sales expertise to provide customers with innovative tooling solutions that meet their production needs.
The position requires the ability to prospect new clients, manage ongoing projects, coordinate with internal teams, and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales and manufacturing process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and expand existing and new business opportunities within target markets.
  2. Position the company as the preferred partner for precision mold design, build, and support services.
  3. Prepare and execute strategic sales plans, including identifying key prospects, setting activity goals, and tracking progress.
  4. Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential clients.
  5. Manage and update customer information in the company CRM system.
  6. Oversee the quoting process, including quality checks, follow-ups, and tracking projects through the sales cycle to completion.
  7. Respond promptly to customer inquiries and provide technical and commercial support.
  8. Proactively identify and resolve client issues or concerns.
  9. Communicate new product and service offerings, company updates, and technical developments to customers and prospects.
  10. Collaborate closely with internal teams, including Information Coordinators, Designers, Project Managers, and Production, to successfully close sales and ensure customer satisfaction.
  11. Represent the company at industry trade shows, customer visits, and other marketing events.
  12. Achieve or exceed individual and team sales goals.

Work Environment

Physical Demands

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional overtime, weekend work, or travel as needed to meet business demands.
Travel
Frequent travel to customer locations, trade shows, and industry events is required. A clean driving record is mandatory.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, tool making, or manufacturing within the injection mold or molding industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven technical sales or business development experience with a demonstrated ability to build and grow customer relationships.
  • Strong understanding of injection mold manufacturing processes, mold design, and plastic part production.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling software (UG/NX preferred; Pro-E/Creo a plus).
  • Working knowledge of quality systems and Core Tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP).
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong persuasion, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing principles and promotional techniques.

Training
Ongoing training in sales techniques, technical applications, and company product offerings will be provided to support professional development and success in the role.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field preferred).
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

  2. Working knowledge of 3D modeling software, UG preferred, Pro-E is a plus.
  3. Understanding of Core Tools ( APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP)
  4. Basic understanding of injection mold design and terminology
  5. Able to provide client with technical advice as it relates to injection molds
  6. Ability to manage multiple deliverables in a highly energized and fast paced environment within a framework of constantly shifting deadlines and deliverables.
  7. Ability to persuade and influence others.
  8. Knowledge of advertising and sales promotion techniques.
  9. Requires minimal supervision.
  10. Clean driving record.
  11. Self-motivated with the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities.
  12. Flexibility to adapt to change and willing to learn and develop new skill sets as applicable.

On going training in technical field.
