We're looking for an experienced Tool Maker to join our Tool Room team. If you have a background in machining, mold making, CAD/CAM programming, and plastic injection molding, this is an opportunity to grow your career with an innovative and collaborative organization.
What You'll Do
As a Tool Maker, you'll help design, build, maintain, and repair tooling used in our plastic injection molding and manufacturing processes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design, build, repair, and maintain molds, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and tooling.
- Create and modify 3D models using Pro/ENGINEER (ProE) software.
- Convert CAD drawings into CAM programs for CNC machining.
- Analyze blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine machining processes.
- Measure, mark, and prepare metal stock for machining operations.
- Set up and operate manual machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
- Machine parts to precise tolerances and verify finished components meet specifications.
- Modify and repair existing tooling as needed.
- Build and repair plastic injection molds by machining, fitting, assembling, and finishing precision metal components.
- Operate machining equipment to produce mold cavities and external mold features according to engineering specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to support production.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Technical school degree or 5+ years of related Tool Maker experience.
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
- Experience with plastic injection molding.
- CAD/CAM programming experience.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Preferred Skills
- Experience interpreting plastic injection mold tooling prints and engineering drawings.
- Strong knowledge of machining practices, tooling design, and shop mathematics.
- Experience with CNC programming and precision machining.
- Computer proficiency.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Physical Requirements
- Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Lift up to 50 pounds safely.
- Perform repetitive hand and machine operations while maintaining attention to detail.
Work Environment
- Clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing facility.
- Office and light manufacturing environment.
- Non-smoking workplace.
- Company-provided smock and hairnet required in controlled production areas.
- Safety hazards are minimal with standard manufacturing precautions.
