What is a machinist toolmaker?

Machinist Toolmakers are skilled tradespeople who design, build, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in manufacturing. They work with various materials, such as metal and plastic, and operate both manual and computer-controlled machinery to create parts with exact specifications. Toolmakers play a crucial role in ensuring that manufacturing processes run smoothly by producing the tools and components needed for mass production. Their expertise is essential in industries like automotive, aerospace, and electronics, where high precision and quality are required.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a machinist toolmaker?

To excel as a Machinist Toolmaker, you need strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading skills, and experience in precision machining, usually supported by a technical diploma or apprenticeship.
