Job Description

Position Summary

The Senior Consultant, Technical Solutions is responsible for serving as a trusted technical advisor and solution consultant supporting strategic client and partner initiatives across Visa's digital payments ecosystem. This role works closely with Product, Engineering, Client Services, Operations, and external stakeholders to design, implement, optimize, and support complex payment solutions that enable secure, scalable, and innovative commerce experiences.

The successful candidate will drive technical solution delivery, support client implementations, troubleshoot complex integration challenges, identify opportunities for optimization, and provide strategic recommendations that improve business outcomes. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, technical depth, client engagement experience, and the ability to translate business requirements into effective technology solutions. This is an individual contributor role working in a matrixed environment and requires flexibility to provide incident management support to manage East Coast and West Coast hours and provide weekend / holiday support when applicable. Role could expand to provide support for additional existing or new products/services requiring similar skill set.

Essential Functions

  • Act as a technical consultant and subject matter expert supporting client implementations and strategic initiatives across Visa's payment ecosystem.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to design, deliver, and optimize payment solutions that align with client and business objectives.
  • Lead technical discovery sessions, solution design workshops, implementation planning activities, and post-launch optimization efforts.
  • Support complex integrations involving APIs, digital payment technologies, tokenization services, authentication solutions, transaction processing systems, and related platforms.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex production issues impacting system performance, transaction processing, customer experience, and operational stability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on scalability, operational efficiency, reliability, and performance optimization.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements and translate findings into actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance on integration strategies, monitoring frameworks, operational readiness, and incident management processes.
  • Utilize Agile delivery methodologies and project governance practices to support successful execution of strategic programs.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for innovation and adoption of emerging technologies.
  • Influence outcomes across matrixed teams and provide informal leadership across Engineering, Product, Client Services, and partner organizations.

Work Hours

This position requires the incumbent to make themselves available during core business hours and participate in meetings with global stakeholders as needed. This is an individual contributor role working in a matrixed environment and requires flexibility to provide incident management support to manage East Coast and West Coast hours and provide weekend / holiday support when applicable.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline
  • Experience delivering technical consulting, systems integration, solution engineering, implementation, or enterprise technology initiatives.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Experience working directly with clients, business stakeholders, and technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
  • Advanced degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Technology, or a related field.

  • Experience in payments, fintech, financial services, digital commerce, wallets, tokenization, authentication, or transaction processing ecosystems.

  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale technology implementations and production environments.

  • Knowledge of API architectures, REST services, Java-based applications, SQL, cloud technologies, and modern software development practices.

  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, SDLC, and product lifecycle management methodologies.

  • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices; including GitHub, Docker, Jenkins, or similar platforms.

  • Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, New Relic, ServiceNow, or equivalent technologies.

  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled productivity and workflow tools to improve delivery efficiency and business outcomes.

For roles located in the US, the estimated salary range for this position is $127300 to $216100 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). If you are located in Colorado, the estimated salary range for this position is $127300 to $165,800 USD per year. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
