Job description

The Calibration Technician shall provide services supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson AFB (WPAFB).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure periodic calibration of Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) according to Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) and Equipment Maintenance Data System (EMDS) produced calibration schedules and availability of equipment.
Ensure that TMDE is calibrated at appropriate intervals following the Air Force Metrology and Calibration (AFMETCAL) program (as defined by AFI 21-113), Technical Order 00-20-14, WRS OI 21-113, manufacturer manual, and/or Technical Order 33K-1-100, on equipment belonging to or being used by the Aerospace Systems Directorate.
Schedule and document calibrations by using the EMDS and interfacing with the Base PMEL. All EMDS tasks involve being familiar with data element contents to provide uniform descriptions, formats, and dates, and having the responsibility for all computer input/output to support EMDS.
Scheduling of calibration for all TMDE. This includes notifying users in advance of items due for calibration so equipment can be readied, maintaining up-to-date status records for all equipment sent to PMEL or any other approved calibration source, notifying users and/or customers when status changes arise, or there are long delays, providing updated calibration data for inclusion in EMDS.
EMDS maintenance includes performing all online updates, deletions, insertions, and changes to EMDS.
Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
High school diploma with 4 years of experience OR
An associate degree with 2 years of experience
Must be U.S. citizen
Background check and Public Trust/NACI required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have experience with personal computer software applications in the Windows environment and apply standard computer operating procedures.
Experience performing routine updates and queries to database applications in stand-alone or client/server configurations is desired.
Knowledge necessary to deviate from standard computer operating procedures to avoid loss of information and shall be proficient in discovering and reporting potential problems.
Ability to comply with applicable codes and standards of contract.
Ability to pass customer security requirements required.
Ability to attend all customer in-person meetings and conferences as required.
Ability to self-start and work independently or as a team.
Ability to interact verbally and in writing with all levels of staff, government personnel, and management professionally.
Possess strong problem-solving skills.
Travel up to 10% as required.
