What is a tissue coordinator?

Tissue Coordinators are professionals responsible for managing the process of recovering, storing, and distributing human tissues for transplantation, research, or educational purposes. They work closely with hospitals, donor families, and transplant teams to ensure tissues are handled ethically and safely. Their duties often include screening potential donors, obtaining consent, maintaining detailed records, and ensuring compliance with legal and medical standards. Tissue Coordinators play a crucial role in facilitating life-saving and life-enhancing tissue transplants.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a tissue coordinator?

To thrive as a Tissue Coordinator, you need a thorough understanding of tissue recovery protocols, regulatory compliance, and medical terminology, often supported by a degree in healthcare or biological sciences. Familiarity with donor management databases, tissue tracking systems, and adherence to standards set by organizations such as AATB (American Association of Tissue Banks) are typically required. Job description

Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Digital Delivery and Engineering Technology Leader (Regional Technology Leader, RTL) is a senior leadership role responsible for advancing VHB's technology vision within the Piedmont Region. The RTL is the connective tissue between Corporate Technology and the Region - translating enterprise investments across AI, data analytics, digital delivery, GIS, and AEC platforms into measurable impact on regional pursuits, project delivery, and client outcomes.

As a member of the Piedmont regional leadership team, the RTL accelerates adoption of VHB's technology platforms, evaluates emerging AEC technologies, partners with Service Leaders to embed advanced workflows into project delivery, and develops the metrics and feedback loops that demonstrate value. The role is equal parts strategist, evangelist, and practitioner. The RTL may work in a hybrid capacity from either our Atlanta, GA, or Raleigh, NC office.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve as a member of the Piedmont regional leadership team, representing technology strategy in regional planning, pursuit reviews, and operations discussions.
  • Partner with regional and corporate leaders to align operational and project objectives with VHB's technology vision.
  • Act as the primary regional voice into Corporate Technology roadmaps, surfacing market signals, client needs, and pursuit-driven requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between regional users and corporate technology teams to elevate needs, share feedback, and help implement solutions.

Technology Adoption & Integration

  • Champion adoption of VHB's enterprise platforms across AI, data analytics, digital delivery, GIS, and AEC technology; lead change management for new tools and workflows.
  • Collaborate with Service Leaders and subject matter experts to incorporate advanced technology solutions into project workflows and deliverables.
  • Promote consistency in methods, workflows, and tools across regional offices, while coordinating with peer leaders and corporate practice leads.
  • Partner with regional leadership on education, awareness, and promotion of technology enablement at every level of the organization.

Regional Practice & Staff Enablement

  • Provide regional oversight for the Piedmont GIS team, supporting their growth, coordination, and impact across regional projects and pursuits.
  • Connect regional staff with corporate technology leadership, peer-region practitioners, and communities of practice so they are consistently leveraging enterprise best practices, standards, and tooling.
  • Empower regional GIS staff, Innovation Ambassadors, Model Based Design Coaches, and AI Champions to serve as local advocates and trusted advisors within the region, helping surface skill gaps and identify development opportunities.
  • Supporting regional project teams on scoping, delivery approaches, and client-facing conversations associated with the range of technologies that VHB can provide.
  • Assist with the coordination of GIS staffing and workload across regional projects in partnership with Service Leaders and Corporate GIS.
  • Extend the same coordination model to other regionally based technology practitioners as the role evolves, ensuring local technical talent across all focus areas is well-connected to enterprise resources.
  • Travel up to 25% across regional offices and client sites; periodic travel to corporate headquarters and other VHB regions as needed.

Innovation & Client Impact

  • Evaluate emerging AEC technologies - including advances in AI, automation, data analytics, GIS, and digital delivery - and assess fit for VHB's service lines and client base.
  • Innovate and elevate pursuits and client deliverables by integrating advanced technology into consulting practices, creating a transformative client experience.
  • Foster an environment of technological experimentation and learning; sponsor pilots, document outcomes, and scale what works.
  • Represent VHB's technology capabilities in client conversations, industry forums, and pursuit interviews when appropriate.

Performance Measurement

  • Develop, track, and report on regional technology adoption metrics, pursuit win-rate impact, productivity gains, and ROI of key platforms.
  • Establish a regular cadence of business reviews with both the CTO and the Piedmont Regional Manager.
  • Maintain a regional technology roadmap that is visible, prioritized, and aligned with corporate strategy.

Skills and Attributes

  • Prior experience in a matrixed reporting structure spanning corporate and regional leadership.
  • Experience leading or contributing to enterprise digital transformation programs.
  • Experience mentoring staff or coordinating training, communities of practice, and professional development.
  • Active network in the AEC technology community (industry groups, conferences, vendor advisory boards).
  • Familiarity with the Piedmont AEC market and VHB's core service lines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, GIS, or a related technical discipline. Master's degree in a technical or business discipline preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive technology experience in the AEC industry or closely related consulting environment.
  • Minimum 3 years in technology leadership, digital practice, or innovation role with direct accountability for adoption and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders, project managers, and technical staff without direct authority.
  • Working knowledge across the AEC technology landscape - including AI, data analytics, digital delivery, GIS, and core AEC platforms (e.g., Autodesk, Bentley, Esri) with the ability to engage credibly across our multiple service lines.
  • Strong working knowledge of GIS principles, geospatial data workflows, and Esri technologies, with the ability to engage credibly in GIS scoping, staffing, delivery strategy, and client-facing discussions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with executive presence and the ability to translate technology into business value.
