Position Summary:

As Test Engineer at PT Tech, part of the Timken Company, you will play a crucial role in developing custom-designed solutions for the aggregate, marine, metal and steel, mining, wood waste recycling, and material processing industries. You will partner with engineering and production teams to conduct testing to validate new product designs, investigate field issues, and build fundamental knowledge.  On-site presence in Wadsworth, OH is required.

Responsibilities:

    • Hands-on setup and operation of test equipment to support product development, fundamental research, and investigation of field issues.
    • Create and approve test plans and test results per ISO requirements
    • Responsible for using data acquisition equipment, software, and spreadsheets to capture the result of data acquisition measurements and various performance characteristics
    • Translate test data into reports and databases to inform product design decisions
    • Perform preventive maintenance tasks including calibration, assembly, updating, and improving the machines and software used to perform tests
    • Specify and recommend selection and purchase of test equipment and supplies
    • Utilize PTC Creo CAD software to design new test stands, test equipment, and fixtures as required
    • Attend product and test stand design reviews as required, to offer test expertise and product knowledge
    • Provide occasional remote or on-site customer support for new products in the field
    • Ensure safety regulations are met and correct methods are used in all aspects of testing
    • Keep assigned work area clean, neat and well organized
    • Infrequent travel (up to 10%)

Required Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or GED with more than 5 years of experience
    • Knowledge of test equipment, instrumentation and engineering principles
    • Knowledge of sensors and gages used to collect variables including temperature, torque, pressure, strain, etc.
    • Proficient with MS Office software applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
    • Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal mediums
    • Effective time management and prioritization skills
    • High attention to detail and ability to deliver results on schedule

Preferred Qualifications:

    • BS in Engineering (or related) with 2+ years of experience, AS in Engineering (or related) with 5+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of experience and education
    • Experience in a mechanical testing or R&D role
    • CAD design experience (PTC Creo preferred)
    • Hands-on mechanic / shop / manufacturing experience
    • Familiarity with power transmission components (clutches, gearboxes, etc.)
    • Strong aptitude and desire for hands-on work

This position may require access to United States export controlled technical data ("CTD") and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR).  Eligible candidates are; US Citizens, Green Card holders, Asylees or others eligible to receive US export license authorizations. Candidate must be authorized to work in the US.
