Job description

Biewer Forest Management South, Inc located at Biewer Sawmill in Newton, MS is looking to hire a Forestry Accountant to support the Forestry Department. The person in the Forestry Accountant position will learn essential duties of reconciling logs and outside products, processing Logger Payroll weekly, maintaining accurate records of timber tracts, log vendors, residuals, etc. and working with Corporate Accounting. All job duties must be performed in a safe manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities –

Set up purchased Timber Tracts and contracts associated with the tracts; maintaining accurate records of stumpage and outside sales

Work closely with the Procurement Foresters to make sure all new jobs, rates, of pay etc. are entered correctly into LIMS and changed as needed.

Set up and maintain spreadsheets on Biewer Timber Tracts for Procurement Foresters, maintaining weekly.

Compile reports and work with corporate accounting on issues as needed.

Generates weekly and monthly reports as needed.

Complete and reconcile scale tickets from Weigh Wiz program for all log trucks to record weights and dockage for input to LIMs ensuring accurate logger/vendor payroll.

Set up Log Vendors and their contracts in the LIMs system before the first load of logs comes from any job to the Sawmill.

Keep record of all required logger insurance policies to ensure they are up to date.

Process weekly Logger Payroll and corresponding reports.

Invoice outside products and residuals after reconciling with settlements.

Submits check requests and wire transfers to corporate office.

Qualifications –

A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting plus 2 years of experience in a professional office environment

Strong computer skills to include experience with word processing and spreadsheets

Must be detail oriented

Average eye-hand coordination; ability to occasionally lift light items and sit or stand for up to 100% of an 8-hour shift.
