Tile Installation In information

What are some common challenges tile installers face on the job, and how can they be managed?

Tile installers often encounter challenges such as uneven subfloors, irregular room layouts, and the need to cut tiles precisely to fit around fixtures. Managing these issues requires careful measurement, proper surface preparation, and the use of specialized tools like tile cutters and spacers. Teamwork and clear communication with contractors or other trades are also essential to ensure project timelines are met and the finished product meets quality standards.

What are tile installers?

Tile installers are skilled tradespeople who specialize in laying tiles on floors, walls, and other surfaces. They work with materials such as ceramic, porcelain, marble, and glass to create durable and attractive finishes in homes and commercial spaces. Their responsibilities include preparing surfaces, measuring and cutting tiles, applying adhesives, and ensuring a precise, professional finish. Tile installers may also repair or replace damaged tiles and grout as needed. This job requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and knowledge of various tiling techniques.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Tile Installer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Tile Installer, you need strong skills in measuring, cutting, and laying tiles accurately, typically supported by a high school diploma or equivalent and on-the-job training or apprenticeship. Familiarity with tools like tile cutters, trowels, grout applicators, and sometimes laser levels is essential, as well as knowledge of relevant safety standards. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and effective communication with clients and team members are valuable soft skills. These abilities ensure high-quality, durable installations that meet client specifications and safety requirements.

Do tilers make good money?

Tile installers, or tilers, typically earn wages that vary by experience, location, and employer, with median pay around $45,000 to $50,000 annually. Skilled tilers who work on commercial projects or have specialized certifications can earn higher wages, and the job often involves physical work and attention to detail. Overall, tiling can be a financially stable trade for those with experience and good skills.

How much do tile installers charge per hour?

Tile installers typically charge between $40 and $80 per hour, depending on experience, project complexity, and location. Skilled installers with specialized tools may charge higher rates, and some may offer flat rates for specific jobs rather than hourly fees.

Job description

About Us:

Since 1969, Bliss Roofing has built a reputation across Oregon and SW Washington as a trusted, family‑run roofing partner. We deliver expert residential and commercial services—including reroof, inspections, repairs, and metal or tile installations—handled entirely by our in‑house team. With top industry credentials, solid warranties, and a culture focused on quality, reliability, and employee growth, we're committed to excellence in every job. We offer a team-oriented environment with opportunities for career growth, and as we continue to expand, we seek reliable, safety-focused team members to support our operations!

This is a performance-driven, in-home sales role built for professionals who want uncapped earning potential within a structured, supported system. Unlike roles where you build everything from scratch, you step into an established platform designed to help you win.

What You Can Expect

  • W-2 employee status (not 1099)
  • Uncapped commission structure
  • Estimated first-year earnings: $125,000 - $250,000
  • Pre-set, pre-qualified appointments provided
  • Additional incentives for self-generated leads
  • Company vehicle
  • Benefits + 401(k) match
  • Paid onboarding and training

What Sets This Apart

  • Brand credibility and company-backed marketing
  • A proven, structured sales process
  • Financing options already in place
  • Operational and production support teams
  • CRM system (ServiceTitan)

Your focus is selling and serving homeowners – you are not chasing cold leads or building infrastructure. Success here is consultative, not pressure based. Top performers clearly explain value, confidently lead pricing conversations, and execute the sales process with discipline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct multiple in-home inspections and consultations daily
  • Diagnose homeowner needs and recommend appropriate roofing or exterior solutions
  • Present scope, pricing, and financing options with clarity and confidence
  • Guide homeowners through a structured consultation process from inspection to agreement
  • Complete contracts and documentation accurately in ServiceTitan
  • Maintain professional presentation, organized vehicle, and sales materials
  • Generate additional opportunities through referrals and self-sourced leads
  • Travel locally to customer homes (field-based role)

  • Professionals who have succeeded in commission-based, performance-driven environments
  • Clear communicators who can simplify complex information for homeowners

This Role May NOT Be a Fit If You:

  • Rely on pressure tactics or discounting to close
  • Resist structured sales processes or coaching
  • Avoid direct conversations about money or pricing
  • Prefer low-accountability or desk-based environments

Qualifications:

  • Comfortable working on roofs, climbing ladders, and accessing attics.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport and build trust.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to present complex information in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Ability to use CRM software, Microsoft Office, and iOS tools.
  • Must be comfortable working in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs

Preferred, not required:

  • In-home sales or home improvement sales experience (roofing experience not required).

Training & Support:

  • Comprehensive paid training program; 2-week classroom training with additional field training
  • Paid training class session (expenses covered) *Must be comfortable with 2 weeks paid training in another city*
  • Ongoing coaching and skill development
