Position Summary

The Marketing & Communications Intern supports the Triangle East Chamber of Commerces marketing, communications, events, and member engagement efforts. Reporting to the Office Manager, who oversees the Chamber marketing and communications, the intern assists with content creation, digital communications, event promotion, storytelling, and brand visibility.

The internship provides meaningful, hands-on experience within a regional chamber of commerce that connects business, education, government, and community partners to support sustainable economic growth. Assignments will vary by semester and may be tailored to the intern's academic goals, skills, and areas of interest.


Essential Responsibilities

Marketing & Content Development

Assist in developing content for newsletters, websites, blogs, member communications, and promotional campaigns.

Create graphics, flyers, advertisements, presentations, and other materials using Canva or similar design software.

Write and edit member spotlights, news stories, event recaps, program updates, and other communications.

Support the development and maintenance of editorial and content calendars.

Apply Chamber brand standards consistently across print and digital communications.

Social Media & Digital Engagement

Assist with content planning for LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and emerging platforms.

Create, schedule, and monitor social media posts.

Capture and organize photos and short-form video content.

Monitor engagement and identify opportunities to increase reach and interaction.

Website & Email Communications

Assist with website updates and routine content maintenance.

Support email marketing campaigns and newsletter production.

Monitor website, email, and social media analytics and help prepare performance reports.

Events & Programs

Assist with marketing and promotion of Chamber events and programs.

Provide event support, including registration, setup, photography, videography, and attendee engagement.

Support post-event communications, photo organization, and event recaps.

Assist with signature initiatives and programs such as JOCO WORKS, Leadership Johnston, State of the Region, Legacy Awards, Business After Hours, and other Chamber activities.

General Support

Collaborate with Chamber staff on special projects and organizational priorities.

Conduct research and organize information for communications and presentations.

Represent the Chamber professionally when interacting with members, partners, and the public.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
