Job description

Position Title: Box Office Ticket Seller
Rate of Pay: $17.75 per hour
Position Purpose:
Sells tickets to various events through the Box Office. This is a seasonal/temporary position not to exceed 122 days.

Essential Functions:
  • Sells tickets to patrons for ticketed events held on the fairgrounds using a computerized ticketing system.
  • Handles multiple ticket types for reserved seats at multiple venues.
  • Provides excellent customer service to Fair patrons by communicating seating options, answering questions and providing information about shows and events.
  • Coordinates house seat orders, working with VIPs and artist management.
  • Works with the Marketing Department to fulfill special promotions and sponsorship ticketing needs.
  • Coordinates sales and fulfillment of annual passes, including badges and tickets.
  • Provides accurate change and maintains accurate inventory of all tickets sold and unsold.
  • Processes credit card purchase transactions.

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Previous experience handling and exchanging money accurately required, along with the ability to balance out at the end of each shift with minimal discrepancies, if any.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills a must.
  • Must be familiar with complex ticket types and be able to operate a ticketing system.
  • Must be detail-oriented with the ability to apply basic mathematical skills.
  • Must be available to work all 23 days of the annual OC Fair.
  • Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as demanded by events and programs.

Preferences:
  • Knowledge of Etix is strongly preferred.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to sit in a confined ticket booth for extended periods of time.
Work Environment:
Will work in a fast-paced, environment in an indoor, and possibly outdoor environment during all types of weather. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet, however louder noise levels may be experienced during outdoor events and when in larger event buildings.
