Job Description
Job Summary
The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers, ensuring efficient patient flow and a positive patient experience within The Shriners Hospital for Children.
Key Responsibilities
  • The Medical Assistant assists in rooming patients, taking vital signs, measurements, preparation of exam rooms, stocking supplies, assisting the physician, interacting with other departments and documentation in the electronic medical record
  • The Medical Assistant works with and under the direction of the RN
  • Assists providers, nursing and other health care professionals with procedures and the intake and depart processes. Accurately documents information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Assists in cast room as needed
  • Responsible for prepping clinic to be prepared for that day's clinic to include monitoring supplies and equipment and ordering supplies
  • Utilizes good clinical judgement to identify problems and interventions with patients and families and referral to RN as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within three months
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • Two years' experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Two years' pediatric care experience
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
The pay range for this position is $21.97 - $32.95. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
