Job description

Overview

Shriners Children’s, the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric sub-specialties medical center, has an opportunity for an on-call Pediatric Registered Nurse to join our Outpatient Clinic team. The registered professional nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. the RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Shriners Hospitals for Children Professional Practice Model (FOCUSED), which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing:Scope and Standard of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role. informal, and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills, is skillful in mentoring and teaching, and may participate on committees or projects.

Schedule: Mixed, Clinic open Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 4:30pm, may be expected to stay later as needed until the end of clinic.

Job Summary:

Shriners Hospital for Children – Portland is seeking a on- call Registered Nurse to join our Outpatient Clinic! The successful candidate is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of family-centered care to patients and family. This position provides the highest possible level of comprehensive care to the Outpatient Clinic. Includes a combination of charge nurse duties along with the telephone triage and direct patient care duties.

The Pediatric RN works as part of the Outpatient Clinic team to provide care to patients across all of our service lines. We provide a collaborative multidisciplinary team approach in delivery of family patient centered care. In this position, you'll be responsible and accountable for the care provided to patients in the clinic during each shift. You'll utilize the nursing process to assess patients, plan care, interventions and evaluate outcomes. You'll work alongside our physician team to assist with procedures and provide patient education.

Our Outpatient Clinic team enjoys a great quality of life with weekday schedules only...no weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of nursing experience in a pediatric setting preferred
  • Experience working in an Outpatient Clinic is preferred
  • Orthopedic experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required or must be able to obtain BSN within 2 years of hire
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Oregon
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer and EMR skills
  • PEAR, PALS, ACLS: Obtain within 1 year of employment as required by hospital
