Join Our Team at THRIVE Academy!
Do you believe that strong relationships, patience, and consistency can change a student's life? Are you looking for a role where your presence, encouragement, and care truly matter every single day? If so, THRIVE Academy is the place for you.
THRIVE Academy is a Trauma-Informed, Therapeutic school serving students in grades K-12 from 27+ partner districts across Iowa. As part of the Manson Northwest Webster Community School District, THRIVE provides an alternative educational setting for students with social-emotional, behavioral, mental health, and academic needs.
We pride ourselves on small class sizes, high staff-to-student ratios, and a team-based approach, ensuring that every student-and every staff member-receives the support they need to succeed.
At THRIVE, you won't just be assisting in a classroom-you'll be helping students build confidence, resilience, and the skills they need for life beyond school.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Classroom Associate / Paraeducator to support students and teachers within our therapeutic classroom environments. This role is essential to creating a safe, structured, and supportive learning space where students can grow academically and emotionally.
You'll work closely with teachers, student support staff, and administrators to meet students where they are-offering encouragement, guidance, and stability throughout the school day.
What You'll Do
  • Support K-12 students with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
  • Assist students with study skills, organization, and classroom routines.
  • Help de-escalate emotional situations and reinforce appropriate social skills.
  • Provide accommodations and instructional modifications as directed by teachers.
  • Assist teachers with daily classroom responsibilities and student supervision.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to student progress and support needs.
  • Model positive behavior, calm responses, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Collaborate as part of a team-based, student-centered environment.
What We're Looking For
  • A patient, flexible, and compassionate approach to working with students.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to remain calm, supportive, and consistent during challenging moments.
  • Willingness to learn and implement trauma-informed and restorative practices.
  • A team player who believes in student growth, dignity, and potential.
Qualifications
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred: Paraeducator Certification and/or Substitute Authorization
    • Or willingness to obtain certification

Why THRIVE?
  • A supportive team culture where staff lift each other up.
  • Small class sizes (max 10 students) with dedicated para support.
  • Meaningful impact-help students build the skills they need for life.
  • Ongoing professional growth in trauma-informed, therapeutic practices.
  • A workplace that values relationships, empathy, and resilience as much as academics.
