Your Role as Vice President, Communications & Marketing Strategy

As Vice President of Communications & Marketing Strategy, you will provide executive leadership for Thompson Thrift's enterprise communications and marketing functions. You will develop and execute integrated communication and marketing strategies that strengthen the company's brand, support residential leasing and operating performance, enhance investor relationships, and position Thompson Thrift for continued growth.

Working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams, you'll lead corporate communications, public relations, branding, residential marketing, investor communications, and reputation management while building a high-performing communications and marketing organization that delivers measurable business results.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Communications & Brand Leadership

  • Develop and execute enterprise communications and marketing strategies aligned with company objectives
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on corporate communications, reputation management, crisis communications, and stakeholder engagement
  • Lead corporate branding initiatives and ensure consistency in messaging, visual identity, and brand standards across all communication channels
  • Direct public relations, media relations, executive communications, press releases, and community engagement initiatives
  • Develop proactive communication strategies that strengthen the company's reputation and address emerging business or reputational risks
  • Support organizational change initiatives through strategic internal and external communication planning

Marketing Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the communications and marketing team while fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture
  • Oversee corporate marketing initiatives including advertising, digital marketing, websites, social media, presentations, events, proposals, and marketing collateral
  • Partner with Development, Construction, Property Management, Community Management, and Business Development teams to support strategic marketing initiatives
  • Manage relationships with external agencies, consultants, media partners, and marketing vendors
  • Develop performance metrics that measure marketing effectiveness and optimize return on investment
  • Oversee communications and marketing budgets while ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and company standards

Residential Marketing & Leasing Performance

  • Lead residential marketing strategies that maximize lease-up success, occupancy, resident retention, renewals, and revenue growth
  • Partner with Community Management and Asset Management teams to develop data-driven marketing initiatives across the multifamily portfolio
  • Analyze market trends, customer insights, leasing performance, and competitive positioning to improve marketing effectiveness
  • Drive measurable improvements in lead generation, conversion rates, resident engagement, and overall marketing performance
  • Identify opportunities to enhance marketing technology, reporting, campaign automation, and lead management processes

Capital Markets & Investor Communications

  • Provide strategic communications leadership supporting capital markets initiatives and investor relations
  • Oversee development of fundraising presentations, investor communications, offering materials, and capital partner messaging
  • Ensure investor-facing communications are accurate, compelling, and aligned with Thompson Thrift's brand standards
  • Coordinate production and delivery of capital markets materials across internal teams and external partners

Our Ideal Candidate for this Role

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, or a related field

Experience

  • 12+ years of progressive communications and marketing experience
  • Minimum of 6 years in a leadership or executive management role
  • Experience leading enterprise communications, integrated marketing, corporate branding, and strategic communications initiatives
  • Experience supporting residential marketing, multifamily real estate, commercial real estate, construction, development, or property management preferred
  • Experience supporting investor communications, fundraising initiatives, or capital markets activities preferred
