What are 'Wayfarers'?

A Wayfarer is traditionally someone who travels on foot, often embarking on journeys for exploration, adventure, or spiritual reasons. In literature and modern contexts, the term can also refer to individuals who embrace a nomadic lifestyle, seeking new experiences as they move from place to place. Their journeys are often seen as opportunities for personal growth and discovery.

Job description

Wayfarer Vans is looking for a Community Developer to build, energize, and scale the human side of our brand.

This role owns two of our most important community-driven initiatives:

  • The Vanbassador Program โ€“ our nationwide network of passionate owners connecting with prospective customers
  • Wayfarer Weekends โ€“ our immersive, small-group gatherings designed to deepen relationships and bring the Wayfarer lifestyle to life

You will operate at the intersection of community, sales, and marketingโ€”ensuring every interaction, from a driveway walk-through to a weekend camp-out, strengthens connection, builds trust, and drives growth.

This role is both creative and operational: part event architect, part community builder, part sales enabler, and part insight generator.

Please provide a cover letter in addition to your resume expressing your interest in this position at Wayfarer Vans. All applicants without a cover letter will not be considered.

Wayfarer Vans is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.

Compensation:

$65,000

Responsibilities:

What Youโ€™ll Do

Vanbassador Program Leadership

  • Own the performance, growth, and experience of the Vanbassador network
  • Coordinate inbound customer inquiries with the right Vanbassadors for in-person experiences
  • Ensure a high-quality, consistent customer experience across all interactions
  • Build strong relationships with Vanbassadorsโ€”keeping them engaged, motivated, and aligned
  • Recruit, vet, onboard, coach, and, when necessary, offboard Vanbassadors
  • Track engagement, performance, and outcomes through CRM systems

Wayfarer Weekends (Events & Experiences)

  • Plan and execute bi-monthly Wayfarer Weekend events (12โ€“16 vans) in unique locations across the country
  • Identify and secure future destinations, campgrounds, and venues
  • Coordinate attendee logistics, communications, and overall experience
  • Travel to and host events, ensuring they are seamless, fun, and memorable
  • Design and facilitate creative, engaging activities that build connection and community
  • Partner with our existing Wayfarer Weekend planner on sourcing and execution
  • Continuously refine and elevate the experience based on feedback and outcomes

Community Building & Brand Energy

  • Act as a cheerleader and connector for the Wayfarer community
  • Create energy, excitement, and a strong sense of belonging across all touch points
  • Develop opportunitiesโ€”both in-person and digitalโ€”for Wayfarians to connect
  • Capture and amplify community stories that reflect the Wayfarer lifestyle

Sales & Marketing Integration

  • Serve as an integral member of the sales and marketing team
  • Participate in:
  • Daily team stand-ups
  • Weekly company stand-ups
  • Sales and marketing meetings
  • Align closely with sales and marketing to optimize lead flow, conversion, and customer experience
  • Ensure community initiatives directly support revenue and brand growth

Reporting, Insights & Optimization

  • Own structured, consistent reporting and insight generation for both programs
  • Analyze Vanbassador activity, customer engagement, and event outcomes
  • Deliver regular report-outs with actionable insights and recommendations
  • Identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement
  • Continuously optimize programs to increase impact and efficiency

Qualifications:

Who You Are

  • Creative, fun, and naturally engagingโ€”you bring energy into every room (or campsite)
  • A strong community builder who thrives on connecting people
  • Highly organized and operational, able to execute complex logistics seamlessly
  • Experienced in sales, events, and community development
  • Comfortable working within and contributing to a highly collaborative, fast-moving team environment
  • Confident using CRM systems and tracking performance metrics
  • A clear communicator who can translate experiences into insights and action
  • Willing and excited to travel regularly
  • Curious, adventurous, and passionate about helping others realize their travel dreams
  • Ideally familiar with (or deeply excited about) the Wayfarer Vans lifestyle

What Success Looks Like

  • A highly engaged, motivated, and effective Vanbassador network
  • Consistently exceptional Wayfarer Weekend experiences
  • Strong alignment between community efforts and sales outcomes
  • Clear, actionable insights that improve performance over time
  • A growing sense of connection, loyalty, and advocacy within the Wayfarer community
