Job description

Dear Charles is currently seeking a Host/Food Runner to provide genuine hospitality and the highest quality of service to our guests. The ideal candidate can create an engaging environment, providing courteous, responsive, guest-centered service.

Our caring and attentive associates reinforce our principal belief that guest service is our highest priority. We have opportunities for energetic, service-oriented individuals who are experienced in providing efficient service and memorable experiences.


Responsibilities

  • Provides the highest and most efficient level of hospitality and customer service expected by our guests.
  • Greets and seats guests upon entering the restaurant.
  • Records and confirms reservations through ToastTable or through call-in requests.
  • Monitors guest waiting list.
  • Answer telephones to service internal and external guests.
  • Handles room service and to go orders via telephone.
  • Handles cash, credit cards, and guest room charges. 
  • Assists with serving guests by bringing out meal orders if servers are busy.
  • Helps monitor and observe guest’s dining experience to ensure guest are satisfied with the food and service and respond promptly and courteously to correct any problems.
  • Maintains a level of knowledge of all menu items and beverage programs.
  • Is a team player and assists others when and where necessary to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Completes the setup and breakdown of sections, including detailed cleaning of the work area and surrounding areas.
  • Works with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Reports any damages, shortcomings, and disturbances to managers or supervisors. 
  • Ensures the restaurant operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations.
  • Has the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Has the availability to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the Restaurant General Manager.
  • Any other duties assigned by Supervisor or Manager.

Fundamentals

  • Ability to maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in a formal dining or upscale casual environment.
  • Flexibility to work any shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English required.
  • Strong organizational skills, including follow-up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to positively communicate and interact with all hotel departments.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 40 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods indoors with a thematically climate-controlled workstation.
  • Satisfactory completion of background check.
  • Study Hotels is a drug-free workplace.

The space provides a direct link to the active pedestrian circulation of the village and campus student center. Intimate in scale and warmly furnished with a subtle patina, the 85-seat restaurant is a perfect complement to the open-air, inspired energy of the hotel’s public space.
