Position Summary:

The temporary Rock Kids Coordinator – GROW helps lead discipleship efforts for 1st through 5th grade children by creating environments and experiences that support spiritual growth, team development, and family engagement. This role focuses on implementing the “GROW” pillar of Rock Church’s discipleship pathway—helping kids and families take intentional next steps in their faith journey. Areas of primary responsibility include Parent Connect, Team Equipping & Growth, Baptisms, and Family Events. The Coordinator works closely with the Rock Kids Pastor/Director and other team members to ensure a cohesive, Christ-centered experience that nurtures both kids and those who serve them.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Champion the GROW focus of Rock Church’s mission within the Rock Kids ministry.
  • Develop initiatives that encourage faith formation, deeper discipleship, and participation in spiritual milestones.
  • Lead efforts to engage and support parents of elementary-aged children through events, communication, and resources that encourage spiritual leadership and growth at home.
  • Facilitate regular opportunities for parents to connect with one another, with Rock Kids leaders, and additional resources.
  • Create, implement, and enhance team member training, spiritual development, and team-building experiences for Rock Kids leaders.
  • Support team members in discovering and developing their gifts while cultivating a culture of encouragement and excellence.
  • Monitor team member engagement and retention and provide timely encouragement, feedback, and next steps.
  • Oversee the baptism process for Rock Kids, including coordinating classes or conversations, communicating with families, and planning baptism events.
  • Equip children and families to understand the meaning of baptism and guide them through the next steps with pastoral care.
  • Plan and execute family-focused events that encourage spiritual growth, relational connection, and memorable shared experiences.
  • Partner with other ministries and departments to align events with church-wide initiatives when appropriate.
  • Partner with the Rock Kids Coordinator – KNOW and the Rock Kids Pastor/Director to support ministry initiatives across age groups and spiritual pathways.
  • Flexibly step in to assist with areas not directly led when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records related to baptisms, team training and equipping, and family events.
  • Help manage communication with team members and families related to GROW-focused ministry efforts.
  • Support Sunday services and special events as needed with an emphasis on the areas listed above when appropriate, functioning as the direct point of contact.
  • Effectively and efficiently care and communicate while shepherding Sunday services, ministry experience, for children and their families, and team members for 1st through 5th grade.
Requirements:

Job-related Qualifications:

Education, Training, and Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in children’s or family ministry, preferably in a church environment.
  • Experience leading or training volunteers and coordinating events is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in ministry, education, or related field is a plus.

Job Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Read, write, spell, and communicate clearly in English.
  • Work productively, both independently and collaboratively with others.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office for MAC (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality as appropriate.

  • Utilize the principles of Matthew 18 and Ephesians 4:15 to resolve differences of opinion with others.
  • Successful completion of a thorough pre-employment references and background checks, which includes: social security verification, Local, State & Federal criminal conviction records search, national security database, and sex offender registry.
  • Attendance at all mandatory meetings and events. This includes key events such as holidays, etc.
  • Regular involvement in Rock Church activities, ministries and events.
  • Signed acknowledgment of the Rock’s Statement of Faith.
  • Ability to interpret and adhere to the Rock’s policies, procedures and employee handbook.
  • Be self-motivated and goal oriented, use good judgment, and be flexible and innovative.
