FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST 1 CAN EARN UP TO A

$1,500 SIGN-ON BONUS AT THE CONNECTION!!

Eligible candidates can earn up to a $1,500 sign-on bonus by joining The Connection as a Residential Aide.ย 

ย If you,

  • Are an external new hire
  • Are assigned to work a regular full time Family Support Specialist 1 position.
  • Are an employee in good standing at each evaluation period

You will earn a $375 bonus after 90 days, an additional $375 after six months, and an additional $750 after one year!

Program Summary:

A child welfare program providing intensive case management, vocational supports, and temporary housing subsidies to families that are homeless or at risk of homelessness in order to support the achievement of family reunification and/or prevent the removal of children from their families.

POSITION: Family Support Specialist 1

Are you interested in playing a pivotal role in the lives of families and children?ย If you are, come join the exciting Supportive Housing for Families team as a Family Support Specialist! In this role, you will support clients in achieving their individual goals by providing intensive in-home case management services. You will help families address the problems of homelessness, unemployment, mental illness, and substance use through collaboration with treatment providers, natural supports, and community resources.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Weekly in-home visits targeted to support clients in developing and achieving goals to find housing, employment, and treatment options.
  • Identify resources and facilitate referrals, as needed, for housing, eligible benefits, substance use, mental health, counseling, child specific services, life skills including budgeting, vocational and educational opportunities.
  • Regular and proactive collaboration with stakeholders such as DCF, treatment providers, landlords, internal staff, and departments.

Qualifications:

  • Motivation, passion, and commitment to the Mission of The Connection
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with ability to foster effective working relationships
  • Strong case management experience and skills
  • Previous experience with Motivational Interviewing (preferred)
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree and 2 years of relevant experience (minimum)
  • Valid Driverโ€™s License

Orientation:

If selected for employment with The Connection, newly hired employees will be required to attend a two (2) day mandatory New Hire Orientation at our Roscommon office located in Middletown.
