Job description

The Stony Brook School is seeking a caring, organized, and dependable Summer Nurse to support the health and well-being of students participating in Summer @ The Brook programs. This position plays an important role in creating a safe, healthy, and positive summer experience for campers, staff, and families. The Summer Nurse will oversee daily health office operations for Summer @ The Brook programs, including responding to student health needs, administering medications, maintaining health records, and communicating with parents and staff as needed.

Location: Stony Brook School, Stony Brook, NY

Position Type: Seasonal, Summer

Dates: June 29 – August 14

Reports to: Director of Auxiliary Programs

Responsibilities
  • Provide basic medical care and first aid to campers and staff
  • Administer medications according to physician and parent instructions
  • Maintain accurate health records and incident documentation
  • Monitor student wellness and respond appropriately to illnesses or injuries
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns when necessary
  • Ensure compliance with camp health and safety policies
  • Collaborate with program directors and staff to support a safe camp environment
  • Assist with emergency response procedures as needed
Qualifications
  • Current RN or LPN license in New York State
  • CPR and First Aid certification required
  • Previous pediatric, school, camp, or community health experience preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff and families
  • Commitment to providing compassionate care in a fast-paced environment
Schedule
  • Seasonal summer position
  • Flexible scheduling may be available based on program needs
  • Summer programs run June through August

Compensation

$25-30 per hour
