Job description

  1. BASIC PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Above all, to grow closer to Jesus Christ. Through intentional, daily time with the Lord, seek to keep Jesus Christ as the priority of your life, realizing that prayer, Bible study, and Christian discipleship are essential to growing in God’s will each day.
  2. Seek to emphasize quality, Christ-centered relationships for both family and friends. We therefore highly encourage a strong work-life balance for all employees.
  3. Actively seek to be an individual who emphasizes a spirit of teamwork, flexibility, and quality in all aspects of daily work.
  1. JOB SUMMARY:  The Next Steps Associate leads the Connection Ministry's role in the guest journey — the bridge between a person's first impression of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church and their eventual membership. This role builds and manages a clear, relational assimilation pathway that helps new guests find truth, belonging, and purpose by joining a group, serving, giving, and beginning the membership process.
  1. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Guest Assimilation

  • Design and maintain a follow-up process that moves new guests toward joining a group, serving, giving, and becoming a member within their first 6 months.
    • Keep the process highly relational, with clear, simple next steps at each stage.
    • Collaborate across ministries so the pathway feels unified, not siloed.
    • Build in multiple connection points to reach guests of different ages and life stages.
  • Brand and promote the assimilation process internally so staff and volunteers can consistently point guests to it.
  • Conduct weekly follow-up with new guests to keep them moving through the process.

Intro Events

  • Plan, promote, and execute a monthly Intro event for new guests.
  • Follow up individually with attendees to help them identify their next step.

Next Steps Gatherings

  • Coordinate and collaborate with Disciple Making Ministries to plan and execute Next Steps gatherings.

Church-Wide Connection Strategy

  • Support the Connection Minister in leading church-wide connection initiatives.
  • Partner with ministry leaders to connect guests to the right group or serving opportunity.
  • Collaborate with the Serve team on the serve page experience.

General Responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in ministry staff meetings, monthly church staff meetings, staff retreats, and training.
  • Support the Senior Pastor and other church staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  1. TEAM VALUES & CRITICAL SKILLS
  • Team Values
  • Trust – We are for one another. We have the courage to offer and receive honest thoughts and feedback, while also protecting our relationships.
  • People-First – We believe that people are our first ministry priority. Events and programs are important only to the extent that they allow us to love and serve people.
  • Health – We desire to be the healthiest version of ourselves: relationally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
  • Collaboration – Our overall mission and vision drive what we do. We work hard to destroy ministry silos and believe that we are better when we work together.
  • Development – We desire to grow and improve in our work. We strive to multiply our impact by training and developing others to follow God’s calling.
  • Critical Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications:  Outlook, Word, Excel, Power point & Publisher.
  • Ability to learn and become proficient with MP Database and EMS.
  • Strong administrative skills, detail-oriented.
  • Works flexibly with a variety of personalities.
  • Handles all sensitive information with the greatest possible confidentiality and care.
  • Ability to lift and move objects over 35 pounds.
  • Both relational and administrative in nature.
  1. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent ministry, administrative, or nonprofit experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in ministry support, church administration, guest services, event coordination, or related organizational roles.
  • Experience coordinating volunteers, events, or ministry processes preferred.
  • Must be a member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church or willing to pursue membership.
  1. PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Prolonged periods of standing and sitting. Sitting at a desk or working on a computer.
  • Ability to work in both outdoor and indoor environments.
  • Must be able to lift 15-20 pounds at times.
