NOVO's regional healthcare linen facilities are HLAC accredited and operate with state-of-the-art processing equipment and processes.
Novo Health Services is seeking an experienced and results-driven Assistant Maintenance Manager to support the maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of our production equipment, utilities, and facility systems. This leadership role partners closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure maximum equipment uptime, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and a safe working environment.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with strong experience in industrial maintenance, engineering, and team development within a manufacturing, healthcare, pharmaceutical, textile, laundry, or processing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
  • Assist the Chief Engineer in overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operation of all production equipment, facility systems, and utilities.
  • Coordinate and manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation-related equipment issues.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, throughput, and overall productivity.
  • Support emergency maintenance activities and provide technical expertise during equipment failures and operational disruptions.

Leadership & Team Development
  • Supervise, mentor, and support maintenance technicians, contractors, and service providers.
  • Ensure timely completion of work orders and maintenance projects while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Assist with employee training related to equipment operation, maintenance procedures, safety practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Compliance, Safety & Documentation
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, environmental standards, safety requirements, and company policies.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through active participation in safety programs, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment histories, work orders, spare parts inventories, and technical documentation.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintenance best practices.

Projects & Continuous Improvement
  • Support capital improvement projects from planning through implementation.
  • Assist in managing maintenance budgets, vendor relationships, contractor activities, and procurement processes.
  • Participate in facility improvement initiatives, sustainability programs, and energy-efficiency projects.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Production, Quality, and Leadership teams to drive continuous improvement and support business objectives.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • 5-10 years of progressive maintenance, engineering, or reliability experience in an industrial manufacturing, healthcare, pharmaceutical, textile, laundry, medical device, or processing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, preventive maintenance systems, troubleshooting methodologies, and equipment reliability programs.
  • Experience leading maintenance personnel, contractors, or cross-functional project teams.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, workplace safety requirements, and environmental compliance standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
  • Experience utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and respond to emergency maintenance situations when required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or related engineering certification.
  • Experience in commercial laundry, healthcare linen processing, textile manufacturing, hospitality laundry, or industrial laundering operations.
  • Knowledge of boilers, steam systems, wastewater treatment systems, compressed air systems, and other industrial utilities.
  • Experience with PLCs, automation controls, VFDs, and industrial control systems.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Reliability Engineering, or Continuous Improvement certification.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
  • Experience managing maintenance budgets, capital expenditures, and facility improvement projects.
  • Familiarity with energy management programs and sustainability initiatives.
