Job description

Position Summary

At Mainstream Engineering, precision and operational excellence are critical to supporting our innovative engineering and manufacturing efforts. We are seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Planner to oversee inventory accuracy, material availability, and inventory movement throughout our production and warehouse operations.

This role is responsible for monitoring inventory levels, analyzing material requirements, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring materials are available to support production schedules. The Inventory Planner will work closely with Purchasing, Production, Manufacturing, and Warehouse teams to identify shortages, resolve discrepancies, and optimize inventory performance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure materials are available to support production schedules and customer commitments.
  • Analyze inventory usage, demand trends, and stock levels to identify potential shortages, excess inventory, and planning opportunities.
  • Track inventory movement from raw materials through work-in-process and finished goods, ensuring accurate inventory transactions and records.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, working with Purchasing, Production, and Warehouse personnel as needed.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to support material replenishment activities and communicate inventory concerns that may impact production.
  • Maintain accurate inventory data within the ERP system and ensure timely processing of inventory transactions.
  • Participate in cycle counts, physical inventories, audits, and inventory reconciliations.
  • Monitor inventory transfers and material movement between facilities and warehouse locations.
  • Generate and analyze inventory reports to support operational planning and inventory management decisions.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining inventory control procedures that improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Complete required inventory documentation, reports, and records in accordance with company procedures.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field is a plus.
  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person status required due to ITAR restrictions.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory planning, inventory control, materials management, supply chain, or related operations.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles, warehouse operations, and material flow processes.
  • Experience working with ERP systems; experience with Sage 100 ERP is preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
