Position Overview

We're looking for a Principal Content Experience Designer for AI to define and actively design how language, interaction, and intelligence work together to create clear, trustworthy AI experiences within Autodesk's Product Design & Manufacturing products.
This is a handson Principal role where you lead content design for highimpact AI initiatives and agent experiences, while also defining the language frameworks and explanation patterns that enable clear, predictable, and trustworthy AI at scale. You shape and deliver how AI explains actions, requests input, and provides feedback across conversational, embedded, and background experiences, turning platform guidance into effective inproduct patterns grounded in real customer workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead handson content design for priority AI initiatives and agent experiences, from early concept through launch, including conversational flows, embedded guidance, and system feedback

  • Define and evolve scalable language and explanation frameworks that guide how AI communicates intent, actions, uncertainty, and outcomes across agents

  • Design clear inproduct explanations, prompts, and feedback loops that make AI behavior understandable and actionable for customers in real workflows

  • Partner closely with AI, experience design, product, and engineering teams to ensure language, interaction, and system behavior form a cohesive, trustworthy experience

  • Translate AI platform guidance into practical, shippable content patterns that teams can apply consistently in live products

  • Provide strategic guidance and enablement, while staying close to the work, to help teams apply shared content frameworks across use cases

  • Mentor and coach designers and crossfunctional partners through active critique, codesign, and examplesetting, not just documentation

  • Stay current on AI interaction and agent design trends, rapidly applying insights to active product challenges

  • Use storytelling and clear communication to explain decisions, influence direction, and amplify impact with partners and leadership


Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience working on content experiences with demonstrated systems thinking beyond microcopy

  • Hands-on experience developing AI-driven product experiences, including conversational, embedded, or agentic systems

  • Strong ability to design language and explanation patterns that make system behavior understandable, predictable, and trustworthy for users. Demonstrated success partnering with UX, product, engineering, and AI teams, influencing decisions through collaboration rather than ownership

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to mentor others and communicate clearly across disciplines

Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range.
