Testing Director information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a testing director, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Testing Director, you need expertise in test strategy, quality assurance methodologies, and leadership, often supported by a degree in computer science or engineering and extensive experience in software testing. Familiarity with test management tools (like Jira, TestRail), automation frameworks (such as Selenium, Jenkins), and relevant certifications (e.g., ISTQB) is typically required. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and team management skills set leaders apart in this role. These skills and qualifications ensure effective oversight of testing processes, delivery of high-quality products, and alignment with business goals.

How does a testing director typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the development lifecycle?

As a Testing Director, you will frequently work with developers, product managers, and operations teams to establish quality assurance strategies and align testing efforts with project goals. You'll lead test planning sessions, coordinate resources, and ensure timely communication of test results and defects. Building strong relationships across departments is key, as you'll need to advocate for quality standards and drive improvements based on feedback. This collaborative approach not only helps identify issues early but also supports continuous delivery and a culture of quality within the organization.

What does a testing director do?

A Testing Director oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of testing processes within an organization, typically in software development or quality assurance. They manage teams responsible for designing test strategies, ensuring product quality, and identifying areas for improvement. Their responsibilities also include collaborating with other departments, setting testing standards, and ensuring projects meet deadlines and requirements. A Testing Director plays a key role in maintaining high-quality deliverables and aligning testing efforts with business goals.

What is the difference between Testing Director vs Test Manager?

AspectTesting DirectorTest Manager
ResponsibilitiesOversees entire testing department, sets testing strategies, manages multiple teamsManages testing projects, coordinates testing activities, reports to Testing Director
Required CredentialsBachelor's or higher in IT, Computer Science; often certifications like ISTQB, PMPBachelor's in related field; ISTQB certification common
Work EnvironmentExecutive-level, strategic planning, cross-department collaborationOperational, project-focused, team management
Industry UsageUsed in large organizations with multiple testing teamsCommon in organizations of various sizes for testing project oversight

The Testing Director typically holds a higher-level, strategic role overseeing the entire testing department, while the Test Manager focuses on managing specific testing projects and teams. Both roles often require similar certifications and work in similar environments, but the Testing Director has broader responsibilities and strategic oversight.

Job description

Serenity Healthcare is one of the fastest-growing multi-site specialty medical platforms in the country. Founder-led, ten years in market, 1,000+ employees, 40+ clinics across multiple states, and growing 100% year over year all without PE or venture capital.

We deliver advanced, in-office medical interventions including TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation), IV ketamine, and medication management. Our patients come to us because nothing else has worked, and our model is built around moving them from consult to treatment with a high-trust, education-led approach.

We're hiring a results-driven marketing leader to own the full performance funnel from impression to admitted patient, lead an in-house creative team of 5+ (total of 12 on team), and build the marketing engine that powers Serenity's continued multi-state expansion.
What You'll Do

Performance Marketing & Patient Retention

  • Own marketing KPI's across all channels including acquisition cost (CAC/CPA), cost per lead (CPL), and lifetime value (LTV) while collaborating with the Director of Contact Center to ensure leads are qualified and result in a booked appointment.
  • Run direct response campaigns across paid search, paid social (Meta, TikTok, YouTube), programmatic/display/CTV, and local/geo media (radio, OOH, direct mail) with rigorous channel-level attribution.
  • Build and maintain the testing roadmap including creative, audience, offer, and landing page experiments that systematically lowers CAC while scaling lead volume.
  • Build email, SMS, and lifecycle programs that improve LTV, reactivate dormant patients, and increase share-of-care across Serenity's service lines.
  • Own SEO and organic content as a long-term acquisition cost reduction lever while leveraging AI to become the go to authority online for psychiatry related content.

Brand & Creative Leadership

  • Lead a mid-sized, in-house creative team of 5+ operating as a high-velocity content engine for paid, organic, and lifecycle while adhering to brand standards.
  • Steward the Serenity brand across every touchpoint, ensuring direct response work reinforces, not erodes, long-term brand equity and patient trust.
  • Establish creative briefs, review cadences, and production workflows that turn the team into a competitive advantage rather than a bottleneck.

Market Expansion & Playbooks

  • Develop repeatable marketing playbooks for new clinic launches including pre-launch awareness, local SEO, geo-targeted paid, and referral-source coordination that shorten our ramp in every new market.
  • Partner with the Director of Business Development to ensure marketing materials, messaging, and automations strengthen relationships and educate referral sources.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in performance-driven marketing with a proven track record of scaling lead volume while improving CAC/CPA, CPL, and LTV in a multi-channel, multi-market environment.
  • 3+ years leading and developing in-house creative teams of 5+ across design, video, copy, and motion graphics in a high-velocity production environment.
  • Deep direct response fluency across paid search, paid social, programmatic, lifecycle, and local/geo media, with the analytical rigor to defend every channel investment.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance direct response performance with brand stewardship, building campaigns that drive immediate conversion without compromising long-term brand equity.
  • Proven systems mindset with experience building testing roadmaps, attribution infrastructure, and reporting dashboards that turn marketing into a predictable growth engine.
  • Hands-on launch experience with a history of standing up marketing playbooks for new locations, products, or markets and shortening ramp time for new locations.
  • Ideal background as a Director or VP of Marketing, Head of Growth, or Head of Performance Marketing at a multi-location services business, DTC brand, or growth-stage company. Luxury and/or female focused brand experience is preferred.
