Job description

Title: Vehicle Test Planning Engineer
Location: Troy, Michigan

Who we are looking for:
The Vehicle Test Planning Engineer role will manage the vehicle testing that occurs between various teams during the vehicle development process, help coordinate seasonal testing activities, and manage the vehicle test fleet to complete all deliverables to the product timing plan.
What you get to do:
  • Test planning, vehicle test plan usage optimization, and coordination for all product development activities like DV/PV testing, prototype evaluations and drive evaluations that support with program gateways and milestones.
  • Manage testing priorities with various teams and coordinate vehicle test usage and location of testing between teams.
  • Coordinate seasonal testing vehicle usage including Summer and Winter testing.
  • Coordinate test execution across multiple internal and external test facilities
  • Help organize and execute benchmarking activities on competitive vehicles.
  • Manage and optimize test timing, vehicle uptime, and test completion by vehicle availability and testing that needs to be done for a vehicle program
  • Coordinate durability, corrosion, body (interior & exterior), vehicle dynamics, NVH, weight, Aero/thermal, weight, safety, NVH, propulsion, chassis, electrical, brake controls testing activities.
  • Manage the entire test vehicle fleet including competitors vehicles throughout the whole vehicle lifecycle, consisting of vehicle check-in/purchase, documentation, tracking, and disposal.
  • Coordinate test vehicle access requests from other Teams.
  • Manage vehicle fleet to make sure each of the users and vehicles are ok to test per the plan
  • Support vehicle testing activities as needed throughout the vehicle development process.
  • Create and present clear & concise vehicle uptime and usage status and technical reports.
  • Help coordinate fleet updates (hardware and software) and optimize testing and uptime.

What you bring to the Team:
  • Associates or Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • 6-8 years of experience with Vehicle test planning capability.
  • Excellent communication, Team building and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to lead teams and meetings through technical tradeoffs and optimized solutions with attention to detail.
  • Broad vehicle technical and vehicle development process knowledge.
  • Technical writing and documentation experience.
  • Functional experience with all regulatory requirements, vehicle level requirements, and system level testing run on Body bucks.
  • Experience with EV propulsion systems, high-voltage systems, and Brake Controls.
